It's Kris

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

The bible thumpers got out the vote. I suspect we'll have a lot of comments on this one in the coming days. The wrong guy won and he even admitted it on stage. He shouldn't have made it as far as he did. Adam is an entertainer and a performer. Kris is a sleep aid.

Ralph

Can't say I've been watching or care. I'm only commenting because an article I glanced at indicated it's be better for Adam if he lost. Lots of winners went on to obscurity, and losers hit the big time. Kris is white bread at it's worst, Adam, who knows.

Surely,

We are not talking about anything but who the majority of voters want to take to bed, are we?

Not that I'd ever go to bed with a Republican. There are somethings even a whore won't do for money.

(No denying, tho', that Kris resembles a rather cute witch flying around here, if lacking both the muscles and brains).

Well,

Since all this stuff about being a Christian and Republican is really just a dodge to advance his career, I suspect we can soon be treated to the usual "revelations" and I am shocked, shocked I tell you statements.

But, my, they are actors, now, aren't they?

I was thinking more of the Dutch twink films. Falcon tends to have plots and real scripts. A bit above both their, er, talents, I think.

I think Danny is a much better singer than Kris. He should have been in the top two. But as Matt said, I think Kris will fade into obscurity or at best the nowhereness of the christian "rock" scene, and Adam will go on to huge entertainment success. Danny will also likely get a contract. Allison already has one. Kris is only getting one because his constituency helped him to, not because he's got more talent than any of the others in the final four. This will be another case of Ruben and Clay, where the straight winner ends up with no career and the gay runner-up becomes a star.

Funny, I thought Danny was pushed aside to make it a "no-contest" between Kris and Adam, with Adam winning.

I was wrong. There is seemingly more of a chance in the teeny-bopper female fans' heads of getting with Kris (married or not) than with Adam. (Or at least the image of not catching anything "during" prevails).

I think Adam has a talented mouth, but the whole package *COUGH* of his persona may be too much for most of America.

Besides, how could one not like Kris with a resemblance to Samantha?

Samantha - LOL!

One of two things will likely happen, Kris will sing his way into the ejacumenical christian pop scene and fade away into obscurity (as they all do) or in a short while will announce his wedding plans in a picturesque Iowa town on the banks of the Mississippi where he and Clay Aiken will tie the bonds of love forever.

Uh Huh.

...short while will announce his wedding plans in a pictures

would this be taking place after he files papers to his current wife? ;-)

I didn't get into this season until the last few shows - but felt Adam really was the better overall Performer. We'll be seeing more from him.

Ben

Nah,

He'll make tons of money. The christianists just love them these fresh faced closeted gays pretending to be straight.

When it finally goes bottoms-up (so to speak), he'll do the Haggerty thing-y: Drag his poor wife through hell and back, receive absolution from the christianist "pastors" who would have hung Jesus by his thumbs every one, then after a suitable time in "conversion" therapy, announce he's seen the light, divorce the poor woman amicably and go on to be a super-ultra major big "star" and "personality" for about 15 minutes.

Vomit making.

I, by the way, grew up with real country-western and love it. Hate to see it hijacked by the knee-jerk wing-nuts.

I don't think Kris is gay now or ever will be. He's just that bland sort that lacks self-confidence and not cut out to be an entertainer. Non-threatening goes over big with the prepubescent females.

I didn't like Adam the first time I saw/heard him perform but everybody was saying in the first week that he was going to win. His looks do nothing for me. He personifies everything I hate that perpetuates incorrect stereotypical interpretations of what it is to be a gay man. BUT, just like Liberace, he's a flashy performer who can entertain. I'd never pay to see him, but can't deny his talent and potential to fill concert halls. I can see him following Prince's footsteps. He will have to branch out and tone down the screaming though, or he'll get boring in a hurry.

Danny deserved to be in the top two, but the Kris fans kicked him out. Adam would have still lost out to Danny, I think, but at least it would have been a better match-up. Hell, even Allison would have been a better match-up than Kris.

As has been stated, Kris should be a nobody right away, but now that he holds the title, he's going to get a little more exposure than he could have mustered up on his own. If they haul him out to perform during next season's finale like they did with David Cook last night, that will for sure be the last we'll ever see of him.

I'll bet the record producers who are now faced with Kris instead of Adam are re-thinking their lavish vacation plans.

I don't understand!

As a musician, I can appreciate both Kris AND Adam.
They are both fine, fine musicians with very different styles. The whole Republican, Gay thing seems really very shallow to me. I am gay, but I don't resent the fact that Kris won the challenge. His style seems to appeal to more people than Adam's. I have complete respect for Adam as a musician, but his style is not something I would seek out to buy. Kris is not a sleeper as some call him, but a sensative musician. Let's not judge, lest ye be judged!

I dont know why but Adam reminds me of a young Liza Minelli
The face...not the body.
The face...not the voice
He could really pass for her brother or son...if she has
either.

Well, I've Never Been a Prince Fan

I've heard his music and seen him perform (my sister worked for the local rock promoter and decorated his dressing room so it was free and the best part was having Grace Slick sitting behind us) even though I don't care for him as a performer or musician, so since I'm so out of the Prince loop, I threw Adam into the same category since he has a unique style and some glizty get-ups. Apologies to any Prince fans who feel nobody else compares. Much as I recognize Adam's talent, I wouldn't likely pay to see him perform either.

There have been a few articles showing up in recent days, one very right-on one out of the Baltimore Sun and another by Ruben Navarette Jr. of the San Diego Tribune. All discussions make the very sensible assertion that Danny's fans all migrated over to Kris. If you liked Danny (and I liked him waaaaay better than Kris) you probably weren't going to be voting for Adam in the finals, should things have ended up like they were supposed to with Danny and Adam being up there, so those people weren't going to vote for Adam. With Kris up there instead, they still weren't going to vote for Adam.

People from Canada were frustrated because they weren't allowed to vote. They could have easily swayed things in Adam's favor. It's called "American" Idol, after all, so why can't Canadian's vote? Please don't go splitting hairs and saying everyone from Alaska to Chile should then be included. It's an English language program.

It has also been mentioned that Adam is better off coming in second. If he had won, he'd be under the direction of AI producers, staff and the record company they use, and wouldn't be able to make very many of his own decisions. And there is no question that he has a huge future in the entertainment industry regardless of how the vote went. That absolutely cannot be said for Kris.

The guy from Baltimore (name escapes me) said he was through with Idol at this point. I think I feel the same way. Not because I'm so upset with the vote and those behind it, but because the show is flawed. There has to be some sort of influence from the judges in the outcome. They all saw it right away, that Adam was a truly talented performer and he consistently confirmed it week after week, yet the judges have no say in the ultimate outcome. I won't be surprised if Simon is quoted as saying this decision will prove to be harmful for the show. The finale was, I believe, the lowest rated since the show has been on.

Bottom line, middle American adolescent females will never get behind a Frank N. Furter Jr. as their heart-throb.

Ralph

I watched the first season or two, now I glance at it and it's hard not to hear about it from just about every media source. I really think it's become a train wreck of a show.

This Pat Booneish character Kris is the BEST this country has to offer???? After seeing 10s of thousands of singers this is it? The show never had much cred, and now what little it did have is gone. There should be one vote per person/phone number and the judges decision should be equal or greater than the teenie bopper girls. But it will never happen because they like saying after almost xx million votes so and so won.

Why are you people watching this crap? Is it the train wreck syndrome I mentioned earlier? You can not watch? So far I can...

Hope he is that Fortunate!

I hope Kris IS as fortunate, all politics aside, as Pat Boone. To have a career spand as long as his is a great accomplishment.

I'm with you Matt. The show is flawed and is basically a waste of 59 minutes every Wednesday. The follow-up shows to announce the results needn't be longer than a half hour. I'm through with AI and won't even watch the hilarious try-outs next season. I think this season's vote and outcome will hasten the show's demise.

I'm not referring to Pat Boone's career, and his success of sorts, I'm referring to his Bland, safe image. All the things he made popular in his time were remakes of much more edgy content. He stripped them of their soul and character and made them "safe" for the supposedly innocent kids of the time.

I wasn't and am not invested in any of them, it's just this kid's singing has no soul or personality - the epitome of bland elevator music.

Kris's style may not have soul or personality in some peoples opinion, but apparently over half the voters disagree. Sometimes "Flash" is great, but subtlety can be just as great when you stop to really listen to the meaning.

Hmm...

Frankly, the only thing Kris has going for him is that cute face and those well packed jeans. Oh, that and the fact that Adam looks like my nightmare image of why I don't like the birds of paradise representing me on Christopher Street Day.

Ick.

5-27-2009-03-26-28--panthera.jpg

Yeah, yeah

And who cares what his face looks like when he's gonna be facing the other way...
But, dog-gone it, it sure is hard to get all that mascara out of the pillow cases.

Seriously, the over-fem stuff turns me off. If I were attracted to women, Adam would still be too fem for me.

Ick.

Oh for sure Adam is a turn-off with the eyeliner etc. He's not a man's man at all, so wouldn't even make it on to my "to do" list. But he's way more talented and much more of a showman than Kris could ever dream of being.

This morning's paper reports that Queen is considering him for their lead singer. No joke. After the Queen number during the finale show, I noticed the lead guitarist going over to Adam, and even though you couldn't hear the guy, it was obvious that he was congratulating Adam on a great performance and was truly impressed with his abilities. Being up there with Queen and belting out that song fit Adam like an old shoe. On the flip side, Kris was clearly out of his element and comfort zone.

While the show itself is fcuked up, coming in 2nd is probably the best thing that could have happened for Adam. He's free to do whatever he wants, and not what a bunch of formulaic producers who pander to adolescent females tell him to do.
