Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I've seen some really cool laundry room pictures on here over the years. I think everyone would love a matching set.......I had a matching set all my life until recently.......I feel like as long as they are the same color it's close enough :)

"For washing clothes i will continue even with new washer to use warm water hot water for bed sheets"

No, you won't.

Regaqrdless of what temperature you select you'll have either cold or "wannabe lukewarm"

I'm sorry, I'm not here to bully you at all. I'm just sharing my experience with this catastrophic washer.

The only cycle you'll use is the bulky items. all the others, the water level is so ridiculously low that you'll instantly look and say "something is wrong".

The agitator creates the false impression that it's like an older washer with an agitator... No, it's NOT. For most loads, the water won't even come close to the auger.

Rinse is not only ridiculous. it's inexistent at all. It's a 5 second spray between the wash drain and the spin... clothes still saturated with suds... then it goes straight to final spin.
If you select extra rinse (fabric softener) ... WOW, how generous! it fills with literally 1 inch of water, so the agitator can splash the water against the clothes that are still stuck against the drum after the intermediate spin.

It takes FOREVER to complete any cycle, simply because this washer is dumb... you start the cycle, it takes like 1 minute to start spinning to sense the load... almost 5 minutes to start filling... then it fills (less than half tub for a full load) other 2 or 3 minutes "thinking" to start agitating... then it stops... thinks for other minute before it drains... finishes draining, stops... other two minutes (with the pump off) to start spinning. things like that... It's like this washer has dementia.

My husband Darryl is very tolerant about literally everything... I say something is not working and he's always like "come on, give it a chance, it's trying"... Even him looked at this washer and it was the very first time since we married almost 6 years ago that I saw him saying a bad word.

In no time you'll start seeing your clothes dingy, your whites will be grey, lint everywhere, ring around the collar will turn into a "collar in the ring".

It's a shame that Whirlpool had the guts to put this on the market. It DOES NOT CLEAN, it DOES NOT RINSE.

The only thing it does very nicely (for a top load washer) is the spin.

I wish I had a way to publish here the Whatsapp videos I made of this dreadful washer, so you could see with your own eyes.... it's absolutely stupid.

Save your money and run away from it because I'm completely sure you'll regret and hate it.

models change and in 2021 the model might have improve

the model might have improve over the years plus do not really need a costly washer to get clothes clean it will be use for 2 adult myself and my mom so clothes are not relly that dirty in the case of my mom and myself check the link for the lg its to costly and have to much electronics and do not relly need things like steam washing or steam drying

One of the things that I love about vacuum stores compare to most department chains is you can try a vacuum out before you buy to see if you like it or not. It's a shame though that it's harder to do with laundry products. Personally, I would feel annoyed if I bought a washer that I would later not like then having to waste time packing it up to either return it or exchange it for something else. My sister-n-law regretted not returning their Maytag when they had a chance. They can still trade it in but unfortunately it would just be more money wasted down in the drain for them.

If I honestly bought a new washer today and if it HAD to be a Maytag, it would be their commercial model. I honestly think it's well worth spending two hundred more on something that cleans BETTER than the other model but also more basic. I'm not sure what price differences there are in Canada but if price is more of a concern, I agree with agiflow, I would've also gone with the Amana.

its a shame that consumer reports is almost entirely paywalled. It would also be really nice if stores had functional demo units that you could do a load in to see how it handled your laundry, though I do see why that isn't really a thing currently.

Consumer Reports is paywalled because they don't accept advertizing or corporate contributions which allows them to be unbiased and purchase the stuff they test on the open market. Many public library's have it online for free these days if you have a library card.

petek

what would be the chance in stores to have a set like this brand new in the box that stores could not sell left over stock or floor demo still mint brand new at reasnable price in stores on the south shores of montreal might be discontinued but cost nothing to ask and i apoligize for all those question

Matched Sets

I do not understand the desire for matched pairs unless [ just maybe ] the machines are in your living room.

My range and DW do not match, My mixer and toaster oven do not match [ even though they sit SXS ]

My washers and dryers are in the basement next to the furnace and water heater [ they don't match ]

If you think Washers & Dryers must match you might want to think just how much your decision process has been dictated by people trying to sell you things that you probably do not need.

My most important requirement is great performance and reliability and repairability, overall most matched sets ever built are a compromise, I prefer not to compromise.

Matching Duets

Pierre, I am talking about all the plastic on the front of the washer.

They did not match because Whirlpool could not get the colors to match because the washer was built in Germany and the dryer was built in Ohio.

I am just trying to make the point that it is silly to throw away expensive things that still work well.

Can you imagine if every time you bought a new car your husband had to get a new matching car because they both sit out in front of your house.

It is something to think about in this world as we all confront Climate Change, used appliances generally do not get a 2nd life, at least cars almost always get sold to another owner.

I have to ask

What's the big deal? So what if someone wants their laundry pair to match. I bought matching pairs last time, I probably wouldn't have but there was a sale going on and I got the dryer for "free" when buying the washer. Otherwise I may not have bought the dryer. Though I did, at the time, want the steam dryer. I hardly ever use steam. In fact, I hardly ever use the dryer when weather permits.

So I do hereby decree, it is ok to have a matching washer and dryer if you want them.

Hope you like it

your duet set looks exactly like mine.....I freaking LOVE my duet washer I pray I get more years out of it because I'm not crazy about anything that's out there right now.

Pierre, what's the model numbers for both the washer & dryer? I like this dryer because of the side-swing door. I have to have a side-swing door rather than a drop down door. [this post was last edited: 7/2/2021-14:59]

Personally it’s interesting Whirlpool has come back to some degree of sense with bringing back the agitator. Although for me I’d never ever buy anything that has a lid lock, that’s an immediate N.O. Because it generally dictates that the entire machine is full of electronics. HE has got to be the worst tragedy that’s ever struck the appliance industry.

Keep us updated with the reliability of this machine as I’m curious. My family bought a brand new speed Queen TR5 today, I love it but I’m not impressed by the new agitation method that’s in place.

But otherwise with the fake sort of agitator it’s just utterly pointless and I feel you aren’t going to be pleased with it. I’d of just gotten a 90s Maytag or something nice.
