Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

But otherwise with the fake sort of agitator it’s just utterly pointless and I feel you aren’t going to be pleased with it. I’d of just gotten a 90s Maytag or something nice.

I almost bought set shown in 1 but went w/ Maytag Commercial

That washer looked like my old Whirlpool model I had in the 90s with its mechanical looking control and center post, BUT it is NOT. It may very well have auto temperature control where hot is not really hot too.

Fortunately, I came across some reviews by Lorain Furniture and Kirk Rivas and was able to cancel my order. I don't post much anymore, but this post caught my attention. I think you can buy the Maytag Commercial at the same store. I am so glad I purchased the commercial model instead (thanks to Lorain Furniture and Kirk Rivas). I've had mine for about three years now. No issues, and I've really put it to the test in my kid and pet friendly home. On some days, I've ran it from morning to night (when one of my kids' apartments flooded, kid brings home a semester's worth of clothes during college break, my teen cleans out her room, etc.). There is HOT tap for all of the deep water cycles (this manual is misleading!). All the cycles work as expected meaning Powerwash is awesome for soiled clothing and delicates gentle. The difference in the wash action is because of the dual action agitator. Not only does the agitator move in a different direction than the tub BUT the two pieces of the agitator work independently. Clothes are moved down, in, and through the water. Even that bulky comforter will turn over with ease.

The biggest quirk is the only smaller load is Normal Eco. This is also the only cycle where hot is warm and warm is cool. It has a spray rinse instead of half tub rinse BUT it works surprisingly well. This cycle is also great for quick washes and for smaller loads. When I have a small load of white, I just fill the tub with an extra hose I have that is hooked up to hot water. The only thing this Normal cycle is not good for is that small load of delicates--you'll have to run a full load for that.

You will breeze through laundry. I can do a Powerwash cycle in just 45 minutes or a Normal in just 25. Throw them in the matching dryer. A load is done in 1.5 hours or less! I am still using my old mismatched dryer, but plan to get the matching dryer when the old one goes out. I think the cycles on the set you chose will take longer.

It might be worth your time to really watch some reviews by Lorain Furniture and Kirk Rivas on BOTH of those models.

For the extra $, the Maytag mvw575gw model comes with a FIVE years parts and labor warranty in the USA. Don't get the mvw576kw from Lowes (same washer but only 1 year warranty). Some of the parts like the motor, belt, bearings, etc. have been upgraded). Mine came with some good quality fast fill hoses too. BTW, that outer plastic ring has a purpose. Instead of coins going under the agitator, they stay vertical between that outer plastic ring and the moving agitator.

I have the USA model. It has a black console panel and the rest is white. It is listed as 3.5 here, but it holds as much as my 4.2 cu ft. FL did.

The only other top load I would get is the Speed Queen TC5 (silver panel NOT the black panel). There are reviews that compare both of these washers. They both have plusses and minus, but the wash action of the Maytag is where it shines. It won't last as long as my old Whirlpool set, but I do believe it is one of the best new top loads on the market today. I can repair most things myself due to its design.

A 3.5 CF TL Washer Holds As Much My Old 4.2 CF FL Washer ?

Thats ridicules normally a 2 CF FL washer will hold about the same load as a 4 CF TL washer.

When comparing capacity of TL Vs FL machines a TL washer needs to be about twice as large to hold the same amount of clothing as a FL washer.

FL washers are designed to be packed full of dry dirty laundry, you can not do that with TL washers if you want to clothing to circulate and turn over at all.

You must have had a really lame FL washer, LOL

Your comment is rude and unhelpful. Pierreandreply4 expressed a clear preference in going with a Maytag AND a top load, so the mvwp575gw is worth looking at for the wash action even over the final set chosen. It fits the description of simple controls (even the most simple designs now have a control board behind the knobs), and it really does have a great selection of cycles. The dual action agitator cleans much better than Maytag's powerwash agitator for those who work in technical trades or have heavier soiled clothes for other reasons. In the end, all I wanted was Pierreandreply4 to know about the options available. If he still decides to go with his final choice, then he did that having all of the information. Most people don't have the luxury of trying models at their expense and swapping them out like cell phones like some on this board do. That doesn't mean their experience is not helpful, but that is why they have all the information up front to make a choice that will hopefully work well for them so they can use the product chosen until the end of its life (which is how most people buy their appliances in real life). This board should be to help people make informed choices and not bash others. If incorrect information is given, then find a way to constructively provide accurate information.

I have years of experience testing washers. Mother tested and kid approved LOL for all types of situations. I am in no way endorsed or persuaded by any of these companies to recommend a certain product. My post is based on real life experience that including using and fixing them myself.

I had an LG FL 4.2. I didn't "pack it full". LOL. The washer lasted almost ten years (bearings went out) and worked well for everything but bulky comforters. The water needs to be able to circulate between the clothes and tumble freely even in a front load. Each to their own, I guess. As for me, I think a top load works better for our needs. And knowing everything I know now, the Maytag mvwp575gw was the better choice for me even over the TC5. The dual action agitator cleans the type of clothes I have better than the design on the TC5 would. Just because others choose washers that are not environmentally friendly to you doesn't mean they do not conserve energy in other ways they can. For example, I take the extra time to use a spin dryer before line drying or placing my clothes in the dryer. I also use ceiling fans and keep my AC around 80 (in the hot south too!)

Also, the working dryer that pierreandreply4 isn't keeping will find a new home. It won't go to waste. So he wants a matching set. I can understand that. My washer and dryer are in the utility room which is where we enter and exit the home. When my dryer goes out, I will be replacing the old LG with the matching Maytag one. It's a great dryer and happens to match, which is also important to me.

I know you a partial to Speed Queen especially their front load. It is true they will last longer BUT you also pay two or more times the price. Not everyone can pay that much at one time. And not everyone wants a front load. Instead of rude comments, take the time to explain why a front load may work better. People might listen better if they don't feel attacked.

So I agree to disagree with you. Have a great day! :-)

thank you pink power

thank you pinkpower i like something thats easy and there is a way to have a good washer dryer set with out having to pay a fortune and that can get the job done and the reason i went back to a top load is because i am 6 foot tall and do not have to sit down to take the clothes out or load the washer, plus i would add that if needed might be usefuil to have deep fill or need on the final choice the extra power button on the dial stains or extra wash time

I don't post much, but I will be looking forward to reading your review on the set you chose. What's important is that you had good information to research to find works best for YOUR family's needs. That is why it is great there is a good selection to choose from. Those features sound nice and are ones I don't have. Let us know how they well they work. The appliance world definitely isn't a one size fits all.

Enjoy!

:-)

Strong opinions

Like so many here, I’ve been on this site for many years and the one thing I have learned is that some have very, very strong opinions. Some are rooted in experience, some based on what they hear others say and some opinions are just stupid in my opinion, but you have to take it all with a grain of salt. Everyone has different criteria they use when making a decision for which appliance they will buy.

I almost didn’t buy the dryer we have today because some said I would wait for hours and hours for a load of clothes to dry. I went ahead with the purchase because it met my needs. Waiting hours and hours for a load to dry hasn’t been my experience and I am very happy with the one we bought.
