thanks for the support with the thread I wrote about antique dealers not understanding us appliance collectors. and yes I am also a vacuum collector. the antique dealer that prompted my rant is about 70 and she claims she has never seen an old vacuum cleaner. really?I mean really? I made the mistake of asking her to look for old vacuums at a show she was going to in the last couple weeks. When I started my washer collection a few years ago. I agonizingly spoke to countless antique people about looking out for one for me. to say it was frustrating would be a gross oversite. the worst thing I have ever seen is a wringer machine without the motor outside for 20years and the guy wanted 350 for it. I couldn't believe it. thanks Bill

Antique collectors will not miss a chance to turn up their blue noses at our appliances, but they will also take every opportunity to gouge us price-wise.

These dealers are stupid and will sell their sole if they could get something for it..I have collected for years and they act so smart when you talk to them about washers and dryers but they are fakers..they usually sell stuff they can steal or carry off from innocent victims.. and washers are too heavy for their greedy selves…Ive spent over a million on dealers and i judge well…Unlike old collectors who have their machines look at prices as every one junked add another dollar to the price of a old one. I have been in antiques 50 years You will go to auctions one day to buy appliances like cars…We already hit 100 000 for a fridge and 265 000 for a stove in california…get collecting….mark in az

Was there something about these items that set them apart? What was it about them that warranted such a high price, or was it just two guys that got in a bidding war and threw reason out the window? Can you tell us more?

Crazyness and GREED at work here.Again,forget the antique rip-off places and hunt elsewhere.Seems like most of the antique places are more interested in dealing with old furniture,knick-knacks,tableware and so forth.They are not into appliances.If they do the places go for fans,lamps,and radios-and charge high prices for them!Again-the device may not work,either.Remember a juicer at one place-the thing was dirty,corroded,missing parts,the bowel was broken,and the machine had a frayed cord.They wanted $125 for that wreck.Told them I wouldn't give 20 bucks for it-then they tried to show me a really old KA mixer-same shape as the juicer-walked out.Did get some good books from that place,though.

80.00 for the Kelvinator stove I just bought and it is Much nicer than some of the 400 and 500 dollar ones on Craigslist!!..
