Quiet Please, There´s a Lady on Stage
After a week of over 90 degree F temps finally caved in yesterday and put AC on for first time this year. Set the thing for 75 degrees F and that's where it will remain.

Happily have a few giant vintage fans that really move air, so they will supplement or replace AC usage this summer as local utility has once again raised rates.

No AC here. It’s 84 outside right now and 70 inside. We keep the windows closed during the day and have fans on in every room. Once the sun goes down and the cool ocean breeze starts to come in from the Pacific coast thats approx. 20 miles away as the crow flies we open up the windows to bring in the cool fresh air. Only on the very hottest days does in get higher than 75 in the house. We have lots of large Sycamore’s and Liquid Amber trees that provide lots of shade.

I look forward to the warm weather, it’s the only relief we get from very high electric bills.

Same here,   have central AC, have not used it in years.  Lots of big trees around the house, I put cellular shades in the bedrooms, keep them closed depending on sun's position.  It was in the 90s last week, got up to 82 in the house, certainly livable. Have a fully finished basement to retreat to if it  gets too hot, dehumidifier keeps humidity at 50% so not clammy down  there.

76°F 11p to 8:59a.  77°F 9a to 10:59p.  May increase the daytime setpoint (or both) by a °F as the summer progresses to an inferno.  Maybe 79°F daytime if the ambient reaches 104°F+.

Only numbers ending in 5, 0 or even numbers, though being mainly 4, 8 or 2... My finished basement is rotting away so it truly needs major restoration/refurbishing/refinishing/remodeling... Colder than a well-digger's butt, there, though...

So my large den actually helps me keep cool and keeps from reminding me how much my electric bill will be rising to as my a/c doesn't cycle on and off like the furnace does with heat... Meaning I'm at the thermostat raising the temperature when my house becomes a meat packing plant or when I'm going to the basement laundry room, just to crank it down when I feel the summer sweltering...

Leaving the house, I refuse to have that unit out there running and freezing an empty cavern... So I then brace myself to put the thermostat at the minimum 45-degrees that my daughter insists on it being as she claims she gets that hot while her mother mainly due to being so thinly and fraily built companies of always being cold...

75F during the day, 72F at night in the bedroom.

I have a 3 zone setup in the house with a thermostat in my bedroom which regulates my bedroom, bathroom, and a second kitchen (where the KDS-18 resides) with a pocket door to the rest of the house I keep closed at night.

The vintage appliance shop located in a detached garage with the thermostat in the upper loft where the parts are stored and some other stuff is set at 78F which generally keeps the lower half where the goodies are around 73F-ish. Gotta keep the appliances comfortable ;)

65f all day 68 at night

Its not a luxury when neither of you like heat and as we use no gas during the summer it pays for the extra electricity... We cut our use of gas down so far this winter they cut our monthly payments in half so not concerned about about the bill.

We prefer windows open whenever we can, but the house has been closed up for at least the last week.
Central A/c set to 74 or 73 and a few vintage fans running. The upstairs is always warmer so I keep a small window unit in the bedroom for sleeping chilly.
Just bought a new Windmill 6k btu for the bedroom. Very very nice unit and very quiet.

No lower than 75 for us. Unfortunately two of our three ac units just went out. One of them had a problem earlier this month when we turned it on for the first time this year and now it's currently unavailable to use again. Hopefully today the guy will come over to fix them as it's toasty in our house as of today:P But I've had worse when I was living down in Lake Powell for one summer and my apartment ac broke.

Temps dropped overnight.

Off went AC, windows opened, just using vintage Paxton fan.

Can always tell when outdoor temps drop and AC is on, things start getting really, really chilly. This without any adjustment to thermostat.

Went to bed last night outdoor temp was still in middle 80's. By this morning things dropped to middle or low 70's with low humidity.

I'm in a similar situation to Eddie, but I have zero shade and the front of the house has original 1922 windows that face southwest.  They are architecturally specific and would cost a fortune to replace with double panes.  I keep the blinds closed on all windows except in the back of the house, where it's always considerably cooler inside.  I can get by with the thermostat set to 76 or 77 if I'm wearing shorts only.  I'll bump it down to 74 or 75 if I have guests.  I also set the system fan to run continuously in order to equalize temperatures throughout the house.

Once the outside temperature drops below the thermostat setting, either from the sea breeze or just on its own on calm days, I open windows and use fans for the rest of the time and overnight.  If it's a really bad hot spell (fairly rare) and doesn't cool down enough by bed time, I'll open windows and shut off the central AC, then fire up the 8K BTU portable unit in my bedroom for comfortable sleeping.

I can wait longer to turn on the AC in June since the sun is directly overhead and not beating on the front of the house.  There's been no "June gloom" to speak of this year.  It seems to have been more of a "May gray" situation instead.

72º during the day and 68-70º while sleeping. If it goes below 83 outside I'll raise it to 74 as it'll start to feel a little chilly in the house. This past week has been between 92-98º. There is no more shade on the house since the only tree providing morning shade fell and the rest was taken down. AC goes on at night when lows are above 60º and stays on all summer once highs are above 75º

Keep things about 77 . We don't have ducts so it's a minisplit which covers the living/dining/kitchen area (open plan) as well as the familyroom 4 steps down. I have a small tablefan by the front door to stir things up and it feels quite cold when you first walk in the front door. Upstairs I have two portables but we only use one primarly and only run it about 60 minutes before bed time with the aid of a box fan in the hall. With exceptions of course for those very humid heat wave days where it doesn't cool down at night much and opening the windows up there would be pointless. It aint the heat it's the humidity thing for me.

The thermostat is set at 75 degrees. I still have one of those old round Honeywell thermostat with what looks like mercury in the mechanism. So I just set it and leave it alone. I have two huge maple trees in the front yard which faces west, so that helps to shade the house in the afternoon and evening.
