It's Too Fabulous

Very kool.
Too bad they can't provide equipment from that era to fly on!
Their old DC-7 (large, four-engined, piston powered) "Flagships" and "The Mercury Service", were quite luxurious and comfortable with huge seats compared with todays aircraft. And full service was provided to all with excellent food and drink. Those were the days!

Now, back to reality, a kool ad campaign nevertheless. Such a thing was inconcieveable in the 1950's.
We've come a long way baby!

very nice...

now to only have the service to live up to the ads...

my last few experiences with American Airlines were anything but grand or pleasant..

Yeah, I forgot to mention it would be nice if traveling by air were such a plesant adventure as it was back in the fifties.

Now, with rare exception, it has become an irritating ordeal, and I avoid it as much as possible.

I don't have the BHG's but I'd love to have the guy in the blue shirt even if he's a drawing. Hey a guy can dream

And the article on Scott Jordan at the bottom of the page? My reaction as illustrated by this picture of Marcy D'arcy

Advertising art used to be so colorful. There is a great difference between the ads up through the mid 50s and the photographic style that followed. The older ads were usually colored ink drawings and many home furnishings were shown against the dark wall colors used through the early 50s. Later, maybe starting when appliances began appearing in colors, the background was just the stark white of the paper stock. Even white GE and Frigidaire washers were often shown in magazine ads against a white or light gray background in the early 60s.

AW *OUTING*?

I'm thinking to take the cruise from Ibiza, Spain (gay island resort) to Italy to Mykonos, Greece (gay island resort)

The trip of a lifetime! And we get to use washers in three countries and on the ship!

2009 anyone? Nice pic, but where are the trolls like me hiding? *LOL*

yet still all advertising in gay/str8 media is geared toward the guys with the tight buns and bulging pecs. if they want to go where the real money is, they should be targeting the older crowd. and when are they going to get past the idea that the only thing gay people have to offer is money and sex?

Artistic License

My memories of flying in the early 60's were that people dressed for flying. I'm old enough to remember when women wore gloves. I wonder if the stewardess would let them on dressed like that?

Of course it was probably too "controversial" to play in the US... but go Travelocity!!

Take a peek at this:

Hot towel? Hot towel?

Love that - awesome commercial! Can you imagine the FCC fine for that travesty playing in the U.S.? A SIN against Jebus! Congressional resolutions, stiffer fines for the offending networks and heaven forbid a defenseless child sees it - they'd turn to salt just like when Janet's titty got out a few years ago!
