I've Got a Secret....

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I have no doubts!

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you get an appliance you've wanted badly enough! ALL is possible.

BTW--the *before* photo below doesn't give a true representation of the grease problem I had with my Frigidaire CI fridge last month...the chrome strip gives an idea. 50 years of kitchen grease residue which was about 1/8" thick. Not bad, but truly well adhered. I soaked the lot with WD40 and my cleaning cloth with it as well. A BRILLIANT solution to the problem. Naptha wasn't cutting it (without ALOT of physical exertion) nor was anything else. So glad I though to try it. The top and sides now look factory fresh Turquoise.

Whether the same results are possible on Sandy's grease laden stove....I have no idea.

John:

I'll cast around for a photo I dare post, LOL.

I can already tell I'm going to need some things, and I'm hoping your parts stash will have them. I'm going to need burner elements for at least three burners, for instance.

The biggest thing I'm seeing right now is that I have problems with the oven door handle, which this model shares with Americanas. The handle has two little escutcheons at each end, where the handle screw passes through the door. The handle is loose, one escutcheon is gone, and the porcelain is chipped where the escutcheon was. Fixing that is going to be needed.

I am still assessing, though - this is so rough I want to finish a complete assessment before spending anything. These don't grow on trees, but then neither does money, LOL.

One thing is already obvious - this thing cost a fortune to produce. Not even Sears put so many chrome-plated pot-metal castings on one range.

GE Parts Search....

can be eased a bit. I'm going to a couple of my appliance *haunts* next week. Post some photos here of what you need or email them to me so I know what to look for. If I can't help, I'm sure some others up here will come through for ya.

Photo:

This is a photo taken last year by Chris, Turquoisedude Paul's partner.

I'm the one in the red polo shirt. Turquoisedude Paul is standing behind me, with Cory cadman to my left. To Cory's left is Cara Braveman, then Cory's fiancee, but now Mrs. Cadman. Behind the lovely couple is Ben swestoyz. Chris was wielding the camera, so he's not in the shot.

This was taken at Rudy's Tacos, a local Tex-Mex joint famed for its food - and the size of its portions! Whatever you order at Rudy's, order the "small," LOL. It will still be more than you can eat.

Anyway, there I am.
