Run?
Well, not so fast, the price might be worth one. He being a "bigger guy"? That's over 2/3 of our populatione today.
I see them crammed into Kia Rio's, so there!
The last XJ S had better electrices, and for resto. project cars, new harnesses, window relays, switches, etc. are avai;able. The old V-12 wasn't that bad. Two valves oer cylinder, not 4. The carburetor linkage was the most difficulty,,even on their 6 with 3 carbs. In fact newer V-8's from Jag, BMW, etc. can all have timing chain or tensioner problems above 70,000 miles, and cost's about $2 grand to repair. If it isn't done in time soon after the noie starts, if the chain slipps too much or breaks, the valves get crunched by the pistons, and that's terminal, at least for the heads. Still, no worse than A Caddy Shitstar motor.
Fact is, even a Lexus V8 with a slightly stretched timing chain will show little if any performance hesitation, but will store some hidden trouble codes. The Light will not come on. Model years 2007 to 2009 the most affected. None prior, nor afterward before 100,000 miles anyway.
Range Rovers have issues as well. The Freelander V6 was horrible. One good overheat ruined it. A neighbor has a newer Sport model and prefes his sons Lincoln Aviator over it.
