That would be such a cool machine to rebuild/restore. Quite a steep price though. Maybe they could lower it or let you see it in person to make sure it doesn't have dents or damage to the racks and such?

I've always thought these pre-buyout Maytag tall tubs were really neat machines. They seem to have a bad reputation but a family member had one that seemed satisfied with it. She had the white and grey plastic model which had a very classic clean look to the interior but that matte finish stainless looks really nice too. I wish dishwasher brands would go back to the matte stainless as opposed to the mirror finishes they have now (looking at you Whirlpool). The mirror finishes just suck up all the light and make the insides look so dark, whereas the matte finishes gleamed inside when clean and open. Miele is the only brand I know now to use such a finish; Whirlpool stopped after the Voyager platforms and everyone seems to have followed suit.

I ended up picking this up. Whirlpool WDT750SAHZ0. It's for a rental.

Now I'm looking for a refrigerator. I'm torn between buying new or used. Buying new is obviously more expensive but I can have it delivered and installed. It seems that everyone is renovating so stock is low and a lot of relatively affordable ($1-$2k) models are on backorder. Black Friday will be interested with the low stock. I wonder if retail shops are holding back on their inventory until BF.

With buying used, I'll have to take care of logistics. I don't own a truck and I'll have to hire helping hands. The upside is I can pick a fridge up today if I wanted for $500-$1k.

Nice looking dishwasher.  I get now that you're looking for more contemporary styling.

Have you checked the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for refrigerators?  In our area, perfectly good and fairly new appliances are being ditched as new money types gut kitchens and re-imagine their trophy homes.  As a result these items are going for relatively cheap.  I got my fairly new Miele DW for $200 at the ReStore near me.  It originally sold for many times more dollars than that.

I have a newer Maytag Jetclean that’s just a few years newer from that design, it’s from 2009. All stainless, never have had an issue with it since I bought it used 5 years ago. When I bought it I see why they wanted to sell it, the upper wash arm tube was stuffed with gunk and a plastic bag making the upper arms not turn nearly at all. The grinder was full of junk too so it got a full cleaning top to bottom deep and throughly, I even washed out the filter that sits under the spray arm but most importantly I needed to clean the drain and food disposer, after putting it back together it worked absolutely perfectly as new. Very impressive jet spraying power from the arms in that machine and cleans so throughly. Most recently the control board needed to be replaced because it got fried during a power outage we had earlier this year. But I absolutely love it, works as it should and also doesn’t take too long depending on the cycle. I’ve stuck my camera inside many times to see the upper arms working perfectly. I generally run a cleaning cycle once or twice a month to prevent the buildup, and I don’t load things with thick or solid gunk I’d do anything to never have to rip it apart again and clean it. So it stays very clean, as we use it about 4 times or more per week.
