Hey there,

So, the Brimfield Antiques Shows are this week which means there are a few small fields of dealers in the nearby town of Palmer. We went there yesterday to check out what was available, then drove through Palmer itself after grabbing a little lunch. As we were going through downton Palmer we passed a store that Rich has always wanted to go into, but it's always closed. It was open, as were the two stores next-door, operated by the same people!

I think our Chinese food was laced with crack, because we came home with the item in the subject. Well, with Ron coming up today we had to try it out. The long and the short of it is that the bowl gasket needs to be replaced. I think I've located one at the link below, but if anyone knows anything about these, we'd appreciate the input. The measurement of 7 1/4" seems to be right and the color of the new one is even the same as the old one. The new one is for model EJI in the current line and I don't know if it'll attach the same way ours does. I'm writing to the parts distributer, but who knows what the response will be!

Despite a little leaking, we tried it and it seems to work fine! There's a bit of plastic missing on the inside lip of the lid that sheds the drink down, and I put a piece of duct tape there to replace it temporarily. We'll be looking to rebuild the clear plexi part that's missing, so any help in that area would be appreciated too! Maybe some kind of moldable epoxy or putty that dries clear? Or, we may grind the uneven parts away to make it a cleaner repair and try a bendable piece of plexi that we can clear epoxy to the lid.

Suggestions?

Chuck (can you just picture this filled with orangeade ~or Mai Tais~ at the next get-together?)

Oh My God !!!

I love those machines and forgot about them.

Yes I could just watch those for hours.
Orange Aid and Grape Aide were the most popular I can think of. ( Marguerritas made with Fresh Lime Juice wouldn't be bad either)

OMG Nostalgia overdose! See the recent thread about candy and lunch counters. Seems like the truck stop we used to stop at on our way to the lake had one, too. That is incredibly cool.

What a great find! Seeing one of these really takes me back in time. When I was 19/20 years old, I was a theater projectionist and manager and I found an old Jet Spray machine in the basement of the theater. I cleaned it up and ordered some cherry flavored syrup from our concession company. We made our own "Cherry Cokes" long before they came out with them pre-made by Coca-Cola and they sold like crazy! During a run of "Terms of Endearment" we went through five cases of cherry syrup (don't ask me why) and I couldn't get any more supply for weeks!

I hadn't thought about that for over 20 years - thanks for the memories!

Mmmmmm, JetSpray grape drink. Who knew what it was? Who cared? It was great.

Boss party tool, whether filled with iced tea or margaritas. I'd love to think the parts are still out there. You'll tell us, right?
