Anyone care to share their favorite appliance advertising jingles? I was listening to my favorite radio station (Oldies 1470 WKAP-AM) yesterday, and they ran a vintage ad with a lady singing:

"Speed Queen makes washday a holiday
Speed Queen washers and dryers, see them today
Speed Queen makes washday a holiday..."

Yes I remember that commercial. It was pretty recent and was for either dishwasher detergent or the Kenmore Elite line of dishwashers.

The White Knight

The White Knight was Ajax Laundry Detergent. I remember the commercials when it was introduced in early 1964. Mom was a confirmed Cheer user but agreed to try it--especially since the local Alpha Beta in Canoga Park, California was selling it at 29 cents for a 49 ounce box! She was convinced, and became a loyal Ajax user--that is, until Bold came out!
C-P still makes Ajax..saw some of the powder at my local Wal-Mart!
How I remember this stuff but can't seem to find my car keys...that's for another discussion, fellow washer fans!

Cake in Dishwasher

About 1973, Kenmore ran these ads for their D&M design Roto-Rack dishwashers. They baked a cake, put all the utensils, pans etc. in the machine, along with the whole frosted cake, and the load (of course) came out sparkling clean.

I've never seen a modern version of this commercial - I wonder how long it takes a modern dishwasher to get rid of a whole cake??

I don't know about the 1973 but as someone else stated, recently, I am almost certain it was a Kenmore dishwasher ad. I would say within the last 3 years.

ah yes 1982, what a good year. well not for the economy but it certainly was for advertisements.
Tide did "name your spot, Tide gets it clean" in a typical 80s style upbeat commercial.
And then there was Oxydol -"So get Oxydol and you won't get ashamed to show it WHITES"

the Ajax white knight

I have that white knight commercial. In B/W it shows this knight on a horse riding up to and past a window. In the window is a Maytag all button control matched maytag washer and dryer. The knight rides by aims his lance and then magically ,FLASH, a box of Ajax appears on the dryer. I think more of the Maytag all button set.
I have it on DVD, if anyone knows how to transfer it to the internet, let me know.

I would love to see a modern version of this commercial "theme" - I loved the ad for the 70's version, kept it for years a we had a 72 Roto Rack dishwasher. I never attempted to test the ad at home - I would have been grounded for years!
