WOW!

Thank YOU for sharing these with all of us!! As a GE pull-out-top-load-impeller-wash fan, I truly appreciate getting to see these ads. Love that 'custom' wood-panel front Princess!!

Thanks for posting this. What is the date on the ad? The Princess (24") in white was my Mom's first dishwasher, and I believe it was her Christmas gift in either '57 or '58. It lasted until early '71, when it started leaking due to rusting out in the sump area. A couple of other spots of the vinyl coating were also peeling and rusty - and GE said it would "outwear porcelain" - yeah, right. It was replaced with a KitchenAid that I just recently sold to Pete.

I'm guessing it had a larger impeller than the 24"

No, in fact it did not. Nothing on the Empress except the tub and only part of the upper rack was larger than on the 24" model.Even the lower rack was the same except that there was so much space on either side of it you could load large pans or bowls. Instead of 1 silverware basket, there were two. I've seen the power of that impeller wash up close and personal and it is more than enough to reach the corners of a larger tub. I'd still love to get my hands on one and try out that crazy automatic opener.

30" Roll out GE DW

I once found a one of these machines when i was still riding a bicycle I took it apart and saved some of the parts I still have the main motor and the motor machoism that opened and closed the wash tub. It was a gear motor and chain assembly I though it was pretty neat at the time and would make something with it.
