Was just in John Lewis the other day and noticed this machine right next to the Zanussi ZWJ7122J machine that I purchased. As these machines are both produced by Electrolux it was interesting to compare them.

They are both rated as 7kg capacity but the drum in the John Lewis model looks like it half the size and the back of the drum has a slight cone shape to it so it doesn't seem to have much room in it. The glass door isn't as deep on the door John Lewis model so perhaps this allows the clothes to move about more.

I am interested to know how manufacturers measure the capacity of their drums. There is a clear difference between the two. The smaller drummed John Lewis model has A++, the Zanussi has only A+ and uses a bit more water.

I guess external sizes are different 2...

... with the Zanussi being deeper!

The John Lewis drum looks like the Flexi-dose machines... I'm sure you should be able to confirm this as you had one yourself.

Same old story though... you cram more clothes in the smaller drum, hence same wash capacity in kg. You also get a slightly better energy label cos' the machine needs less water in order to fill up to the same level as the one with the bigger tub.

It might be suitable for some1 who wishes to be able to wash a larger load on occasions, whose usual wash load consists of 5 or 6 kgs.

Have the same tub as the john lewis on our AEG, and it is quite small indeed. These machines are not that deep (55cm), the outher drum si strangly designed (if you take small wire, you can check that the drum on the top is just 1 mm away from the tub, but downwards, there are ca. 1.3cm. If you start the first cycle empty, you will see that it takes round about 4l to get a visible spot of water in the drum.). And even if you fit 7kg in there, the dispenser is to small as it can handel only 100ml liquid detergent. Would prefer the Zanussi, alone because of the JetSystem.

my Nana has the AEG L6027FL which is just like the John Lewis machine, it washes well, has great build quality and has plenty of programmes and options too, not 2 mention a rhythmic sounding pump lol, but the downsides are no spin after the wash on most programmes, some long cycle times and the display can be a bit inaccurate, but otherwise it's a good all round machine, I like the drum in that better than in the Zanussi, so if u value spinning after the wash, get the Zanni, but the John Lewis is a good machine too, so which is better, in the words of Harry Hill, "There's only 1 way 2 find out, FIGHT!!!"
