YOWZA!

This is GREAT news! What has made this possible is that another manufacturer has licensed the trademark and formula from S.C. Johnson, who are now too busy making Glade variations to bother with anything useful. One ingredient has been replaced for VOC compliance; I only home that the change doesn't degrade performance.

There is nothing like Jubilee to protect appliance finishes, nothing. It not only works on painted metal, it's also incredibly helpful on plastics. A computer will shine up like new with Jubilee and have that "silky" feeling of a new, just-out-of-the-box item. Great for TV sets (cabinets, not screens) and stereo equipment too.

Best of all, for those of us who are a certain age, it's a time machine - that smell will take you back to a different time.

So glad to hear this! Now, if someone would only license Original Pledge from S.C. Johnson. I do not like any of the current Pledge formulations; they're all too oily for my taste. Original Pledge quickly buffed to a hard, shiny luster, and OH! that smell. Favor High Shine is close in performance, but not the scent.

The one thing the new manufacturer will have to learn the hard way is: A bottle of Jubilee lasts a very long time. This is not a high-turnover item. I hope that will not discourage them.

And oh, yeah: What about a Glo-Coat reintroduction? Please? Pleeeeeeeeeeease?

P.S.:

To clear up some confusion from the Retro Renovation website:

Jubilee is fantastic on laminates like Formica. Not only does it wax and protect, it rejuvenates tired laminate, restoring shine and bringing back the color.

I would not use it on flooring laminates - unless you know how to land a triple axel.

P.P.S.:

The company that has licensed Jubilee from S.C. Johnson is Malco Products in Ohio. These are the people who make ZUD Cleanser, Twinkle Copper Cleaner and Silver Polish, Grease Relief and Linit Liquid Starch.

So, they're real players, not some fly-by-night outfit.

I'm not so happy

For years and years and years the pre-Thanksgiving chore assigned to me as a child was to wax the refrigerators.
With JUBILEE.
I still don't know why. I wasn't a bad kid.
I guess with EVERYONE coming over, the Crosley and Hotpoint had to be presentable too...
This ten-year-old engineer-to-be was not too happy around Thanksgiving.
Nobody even said to me, "Gee Paul, those refrigerators look mighty fine! Good job! "
Even when I bought my first new car I could only wax it once. Never again. I no longer wax things.
However, I now own that 1954 Crosley. It still works. It still looks good. Jubilee works.
And I have a 400 pound trophy to prove it.

When Johnson stopped making it I sent an e/mail to them and instead, I got a book of coupons for so much off other products, which I threw away. Why I miss Jubilee the most is that it works so well on car finishes after washing and between waxing, because it is wax, not oil that comes off in the first rain. I have a small amount left but have no problem in getting a case of 12 now to have on hand. Thanks for the info. I will be in touch with them. The spray was my favorite, not the liquid. Wonder if they have that type?

It would be nice to have the spray formulation - I still have two cans left from when I purchased them from SC Johnson on line. I was able to get a case of that and a case of Klean n Shine as well. That worked OK but I much preferred Jubilee. It is also great for granite countertops. Just spray it on a damp cloth and wipe and the countertops shine and have that wonderful slickness that says clean. In a pinch and to conserve Jubilee, I have used pledge but again prefer Jubliee.

Also, Malco is the company that has NuSoft liquid fabric softener and Bluette bluing. Need to visit that website as I am on my last bottle of Bluette...

Gosh Angus, I have a spray can of Clean and Shine too. You want to sell a spray can of that Jubilee or trade? lol. I used to get a case of Jubilee for about $45 and have friends raving how good it was and I would sell it to them, for 4 bucks. I made about 25 cents a can for my work, big deal, paid for all my effort, but everyone was very happy and all wanted more. Now I wished I had stashed it all away. True Value Hardware was the last to have it in stock around here.

Best of all, for those of us who are a certain age, it's a time machine - that smell will take you back to a different time.

Let's just hope that the ingredient that is missing isn't the one that created the wonderful fragrance in the first place.

Call me a skeptic, but to me this reminds me of the "It worked the last time I used it which was 20 years ago."

My mother used it as well. Hopefully it will show up in stores in the not too distant future. According to the website it says it's great for countertops, Formica laminates etc etc. However in the Interview on the link above the rep says this.

quote

Can Jubilee really be used to brighten up laminate counter tops?

Grace Jeffers has told me “no” – that plastic doesn’t like wax, it likes polymers, because it’s a polymer. On the other hand, didn’t our moms and grannies etc. use Jubilee a lot a lot?

Also says it's can't be used on granite or stainless steel.

Susan Tolsky

Wasn't that Susan Tolsky in that Jubilee commerical? I remember her from different television shows and commercials back in the '60's and '70's. She is very funny, has a high pitched voice, and an infectious laugh. Her "on screen" persona was often this very nervous type and she would pitch her voice up higher and go into hysterics with a nervous laughter. Whenever I saw her on TV, she would immediately catch my attention. I miss seeing her.

[ open on suburban kitchen, Wife and Husband arguing ]

Wife: New Shimmer is a floor wax!

Husband: No, new Shimmer is a dessert topping!

Wife: It's a floor wax!

Husband: It's a dessert topping!

Wife: It's a floor wax, I'm telling you!

Husband: It's a dessert topping, you cow!

Spokesman: [ enters quickly ] Hey, hey, hey, calm down, you two. New Shimmer is both a floor wax and a dessert topping! Here, I'll spray some on your mop.. [ sprays Shimmer onto mop ] ..and some on your butterscotch pudding. [ sprays Shimmer onto pudding ]

[ Husband eats while Wife mops ]

Husband: Mmmmm, tastes terrific!

Wife: And just look at that shine! But will it last?

Spokesman: Hey, outlasts every other leading floor wax, 2 to 1. It's durable, and it's scuff-resistant.

Husband: And it's delicious!

Spokesman: Sure is! Perks up anything from an ice cream sundae to a pumpkin pie!

Wife: Made from an exclusive non-yellowing formula.

Husband: I haven't even touched my pudding and I'm ready for more!

Wife: But what about black heel marks?

Spokesman: Dirt, grime, even black heel marks, wipe clean with a damp mop.

[ Husband accidentally sprays Shimmer onto the floor ]

Husband: Oh, sorry, honey, I'll clean that up!

Wife: Oh, no problem, sweetheart, not with new Shimmer!

[ Spokesman laughs continuously as he approaches the camera ]

Spokesman: New Shimmer, for the greatest shine you ever tasted!

Does

anyone know if there may be a place you can buy just a couple of bottles of Jubilee? I would not use a case in my lifetime LOL. All of my family used this wax for 3 generations when I was small. I remember it had a very pleasant odor. If anyone knows of an outlet for just a couple of bottles please let me know. I will give all of my gals a nice and great wax job. Thanks !!!

Jim
