So it would seem! I picked up not ONE, but TWO Maytag washers and dryers last week. Geeze I REALLY have to stop, LOL! Oh, BTW, Craigs List is EVIL, EVIL I TELL YOU!!! It is... it REALLY IS!!!!

So here is what I brought home! (before cleaning them up, BTW.)

A 1971 806 washer and electric dryer, obviously in harvest gold! They were still being used and were in fact STILL warm as they had just finished a load!

But I'm sure you don't care much about the 806 set and want to know more about these, right? A truly matched set.... a T142 and 741C, both built in April 1959!
(now cleaned up BTW....)

Both nice looking sets. Maytag sure does make a handsome set.
That turquoise set is interesting. 1958 or 59 maybe. Washer looks like may be the first year for the larger lid.

Lights!

Oh Kevin. You have the same 'Maytag' fever that I caught 2 yrs ago.

What stunning machines. I did not like the color or my HG 806 when I first got it, but it has grown on me.
I need to find a matching dryer.
Most of my Maytags were found on Craigslist thanks to my dear friend Kelly, who told me about it.

Keep the wondful pics coming.

I should really blame QSD-DAN....

.... For the turquoise set anyway! He posted a thread saying, "Looks like Kevin gets to add yet another fantastic set to his collection." Well Dan, yes you are correct! LOL However I'm pretty sure I'm not going to keep them. My thought was to grab them and save them for someone who will appreciate and care for them, like those of us here on AW.

I do like this turquoise set. But while there are obvious differences, this set is too similar to my 1962 - A700/DE701 set and I honestly like the styling of the 700's better.

They both appear to work. I tested the washer and it works as it should, but the rubber hose from the fill flume to the tub ring is cracked and needs to be replaced. Also the transmission input shaft seal is leaking oil a little (but so is my 700). The dryer lights up and turns, but I don't have easy access to a gas line to test it completely.

Love those turquoise 'Tags!

Yes, colour me turquoise green with envy... They are just gorgeous - I had no idea the washer had a tub light! Sounds like they're in pretty good shape, too - just a little tweaking and you'll be all set.
Congrats!!!!

Kevin, what beautiful machines you have there! There not that easy to find here in Philadelphia, that's for sure, especially those particular models. You have two tub light models! Wow! Those Maytags makes me want to WASH all day... Are you keeping them?
Congratulations!

These are both wonderful sets! Notice how in 70s sets, one sees harvest gold pretty much more than anything else. I remember it being a big status symbol to have an automatic w/d set in harvest gold at that time!

Interesting the 806 does not have the chrome top to the lint filter. I know they did some tweaking with the different models over the years, but didn't think they'd done away with that that early on.

save them for someone who will appreciate and care for them,

*cough! cough!* Sorry, Kevin, I was just clearing my throat...

Geeze I REALLY have to stop, LOL! Uh huh... You still have room if you can still walk around in there. Just get a car cover for the pony and you can easily fit several more sets. And I thought I was talking about Delp with the 'crazy cat lady' comment. LOL!!!!!!

Seriously, they are really great finds and should clean up really well. I guess the place to live if you want nice finds like that is in So.Cal.

I should really blame QSD-DAN....

I'll take the blame for saving a beautiful set :)

Slide your 700/701 and an 08 set, and you have 3 decades worth of TOL Maytags!

BTW, I think *I* am the crazy Maytag cat lady (and proud), especially if you include my parts stash!

I love that big turquoise dryer. They're in splendid condition. I just picked up a green Maytag for $25.00, but the paint is not that mint.

Slide your 700/701 and the 08 set and you'll have 3 deca

Actually Dan I'll have FOUR decades of Maytags, as they are from 1959 (turquoise T142/741C set), 1962 (white A700/DE701 set), 1971 (H-gold 806 set) & 1980 (Almond 806/808 set)! I think I feel a photo-op coming! OMG, I have 4 complete Maytag sets, plus a 1964 N2L wringer AND not one, but TWO A50's!!!! (Pulls hair our screaming) Aaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!

Oh Drew, Drew, Drew, what am I going to do with you? I CANNOT be the crazy cat lady, because I don't like cats! LOL And yes I could put the cover back on the 'Stang, but that won't give me any more space, I'd actually LOOSE about a ¼ of an inch because of the thickness of the cover! LOL I do know what would work better… I'll just park all the cars (and motorcycle) on the street so I can completely fill the garage with washers and dryers! NOT! *smile* LOL

It was just an idea...

You COULD buy and install those carlifts I see in customer garages so you can park a car and then lift it up and park another car underneath it. Think of all those homeless appliances that you'd take in (like cats without the smell or meowing...)LOL!!! Keep them in your dining room. It works for QSD-DAN... LOL again!!! No one is *forcing* you to look at Craig's List although Dan sure does find and post them... even I don't spend that much time on C/L... Well...
