Junking Gold? Found a Kenmore Washer C110 2250881

Hi Everyone,

I just got my hands on a Kenmore Washer C110 2250881

When I turned it on, it would make noise but would not spin or agitate. I had hoped that this old washer would just work.

I took it apart and found that the drive belt is completely missing. There isn't even a peice of it left.

Does anyone know the part number for this drive belt or the size of drive belt I would need?

There was also a small ring (rubber) that had rotted out of a space between where the drive belt attaches to the centre drum and the drive clutch above it. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a direct-drive unit.  I can't get a match on the Canadian model number at SearsPartsDirect.com.

There is no belt.  It uses what's called a drive coupler.  One half presses onto the motor shaft, the other on the transmission shaft, with the rubber grommet between.

Access to replace it is:

1) Remove the machine's outer cabinet from the front (you apparently have already done this).

2) Remove the pump from front of the motor.

3) Remove the motor.

4) Pull the broken coupler pieces off the motor and transmission.

5) Press the new coupler pieces onto the shafts.  The ends of the motor and transmission shafts must be flush with the surface of the metal reinforcement inserts.  Use a drive socket of appropriate size to fit directly atop the metal inserts to tap the coupler halves into position.  DO NOT impact the plastic surface around the metal inserts or the coupler may be damaged.

6) Place the rubber grommet onto either the motor or transmission side.  Turn the motor or transmission to align the halves.

7) Attach the motor, and pump.  Replace the outer cabinet.

The rotted rubber ring has no mechanical functionality.  Its only purpose is to dampen a ringing sound that may occur when the machine shifts in or out of spin.  It does not need to be replaced.
