hello to all aw members,

my dad called me and ask for my advice on new washer dryer sets i just recommended him the speed queen tc5 with matching dryer he waiting for a service tech but i advise him that he should consider replacement will see what he decide

I agree with your recommendation of a TC5 washing machine, however I've heard reports that SQ dryers are known to scorch clothing and are pricey.

If appliance matching is not a concern, I recommend an entry level Whirlpool dryer, the Amana NED4655EW comes to mind.

he bough a new set and went with the maytag commercial model the set in the pic to be precise

Any new Whirlpool washing machine would not be my choice at all, however it is your fathers $$.

thank you kalanikaau1 i think the same i have a whirlpool made maytag as a daily driver and i always question myself how long will it last

This is exactly why I recently "refreshed" this 2018 Speed Queen top load washer, as I absolutely refuse to buy any new Whirlpool or GE washing machine.

This particular machine would be, I assume the "Daddy" of the present day SQ TC5, however it does not have any electronic controls which the TC5 does, it has a time-tested and reliable mechanical timer.

The SQ replaces my uber reliable 24 year old Maytag top loader, it's transmission has gone bad.

For what it's worth, the one and only SQ dealer in Hawaii is asking $1800 fob Honolulu for a new TC5 which I don't mind paying, until I stumbled upon the used SQ shown here.

You made a good choice. I have no problem with clothes scortching in the dryer. So go for it!
