When I found those three interesting dryers, I found these too. I was thinking that my storage trailer would be giving up some of its treasures, but I'm thinking now I may be adding something to (or more than one) to it. This is a tad dirty but a nice gem from 1984.

Whirlpool!

My sister had this exact same Whirlpool belt drive washer. It was a real gem. She had it for 16 years and it had very heavy use. Without problems.

We had a similar Whirlpool until I was 8. It was a gift from my grandpa who worked for Whirlpool at the time, the machine he gave us was a prototype. My mom used to never touch the load size dial, it always remained on small. She'd sort into loads of black shirts, black pants, blue and green shirts, blue and green pants, red and purple shirts, whites with decals, whites without decals, no wonder the machine only lasted a little over 10 years, we were averaging 16 loads a week, she washed rugs, sheets, everything every single week! As I recall, either the motor died, or some component of the transmission broke... I really miss that machine, it is, after all, the machine that started it all for me!!!

Howdy Pulsator

Jamie -

I sure understand the draw of the machine that started it all. For me, and I'm a good bit older than you, it was a 1961 Kenmore 70. There are more attractive Kenmores out there (I especially like a couple of the 63 models) but I would LOVE to have an identical model because of its significance. I have the basis for one now, but it needs a control panel to be complete, and two finishing touches, but I am confident that some day I'll get there.

Thanks Gordon, Hey Jamie

Really interested in your Mom's insistence on "low' water levels only.
If it's not too private, would you ask her why. I like low water levels and small loads because you can see so much action from the clothes, the water, and the agitator. When I was young and doing the wash, I'd make as many load as possible just to make the experience last longer ;'D

My mom only did small loads because she sorted things so meticulously that there was never a need to change the water level! I remember when I was really little lining the bedroom hallway from one end to the other with laundry baskets and handing her each item as she sorted!

I bought this machine new in 84. Because of roommates using it the poor thing went through numerous transmissions. It finally went to the crusher in 04. Not bad got 20 years useage out of it. Loved the machines. Gave the matching dryer to 3 college girls, probably still running. This was long before I new about this group, would have gladly donated it to a member.
