What are the + or - of the KA 20 series? We've never had one newer than a 17. A relative had an 18 series KDS that was top notch in cleaning, but how does a 20 compare? There's a nice KDC-20 available I'm interested in.

Roger, the main feature about it that you've never had if you've never had anything  newer than a 17 is the True load-as-you-like loading since there's a wash arm under the top rack so you can block water with large pots, bowls, whatever with them going in the bottom rack. This also results in additional loading flexibility as to where you place dinner plates. They aren't place right down the middle/center of the rack, but now in the same direction, but butted up against the left side of the bottom rack.  More plates are placed perpendicular to the dinner plates on the right hand side.  One of the pictures in the ad gives a great view of the empty racks.  The other thing is something else you've never experienced since you've not had anything beyond a 17 is automatic water heating/pause for it.  The machine stops and heats the water before the prewash to 150 degrees at least.  It may do that before the main wash and before the final rinse.  It has to heat the water at least twice during the cycle.  .  The buttons from left to right on this machine are heavy wash, low energy, rinse & hold, and energy saver dry.   These terms translate to Normal/Full cycle, Light Soil/China, and Rinse & Hold as well as No Heat Dry.

Very helpful...

thanks Bob!
Yes one big drawback of the 17s is lack of loading flexibility, and I guess the lack of the upper wash system as well. But do love them, we have 3! Time to try something newer though, many seem to think the 18 series was the ultimate. The 20s look good too.
