KD 57s
Too bad they didn't have the option of the SS tank on the KDS57. You could get the SS tank on the KDSS-17 built in model but it would have made for a very expensive portable.

Great advantages with portables dishwasher
thank you for posting this brochures and i would say that having a portable has great advantages and one of those advantages is that when they are not in use they can be roll as an extra work top and another advantage is that when they are not in use they can be roll in another room or be put away in a closet and be roll out when needed

It is still working well.
Better since I cleaned out the Price Pfister diverter valve cartridge (see their web site for vid)
To get the fill, given the newer faucets have Calf flow limiters in them, I had to remove the 3legged/3holed flow control rubber disk from the inlet solenoid. I now run using the diaphragm switch to regulate the water level, just like a washing machine.

My KDC-57 good for 44 yrs but now sick.
I bought it in 1973. End of year close-out floor model. Used as portable for first 20 or so years, then installed under counter as part of kitchen remodeling. Now after 44 years of about once- or twice-weekly use and several door spring replacements and a couple of drain valve clean outs, it is suddenly (!) making an AWFUL racket during the wash cycle. Intolerable, so we're now hand washing. We thought it was probably time for a new dishwasher, but after researching online and going to the local Lowe's we were horrified at the cheap construction of all available dishwashers there. From the cheapest to the most expensive (around 300 to almost 1200$) they all looked fine on the outside, but inside appeared to be made of wobbly recycled plastic water bottles and paper-thin beer cans. I knew it would be a shock, but I had no idea it would be so bad. So... back to the idea of resuscitating my old reliable. Nothing found in drain valve. Some whitish powdery deposits on some parts of the motor and on floor under motor. Also some rusty stain starting under the filter basket. We are quite handy and resourceful, but are nevertheless a little nervous about replacing the motor. Have to get our nerve up. Have not been able to find this model number (C) anywhere, or a photo of anything exactly like it. Almost gave up looking, then found this site. Here are a few pictures of the old thing. Any observations, comments or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Noisey KD17 DW
Looks like it is time for another motor and pump rebuild at a minimum.
Given the use and age I would look for another vintage DW rather than try fixing this one.
I have an unused KDI-17 I will sell for $250 if you want to come get it.
