Perhaps this is a dumb question, for this particular model, is there a better way to check whether the arm is turning and the jets are jetting than to keep quickly opening the door (like checking to see if the light REALLY turns off in a fridge when the door closes by quickly opening and closing it repeatedly.

Well, if you don't mind cleaning up a little bit of water, you could run the machine with the door open for a few seconds.

You'll have to stick and angle a small screwdriver to trigger the door interlock switch at the top right side corner of the door, and then push the tab in for the door handle lock, while engaging the door lock. Grab some towels, choose a cycle, and get ready for some fun

In addition to the above, you could also let the machine run (empty so you have a clear view)Let the machine go through one of its complete fill phases. when you open the door, notice the position of the 4 arms on the hydro-sweep at the bottom. Also take note that the holes in each of those arms are arranged slightly differently. Once you made a good note, turm the machine on for about 15 seconds and open it again and see if the wash arm has rotated and the 4 arms are in a different location as well as if each particular arm has moved to a different area of the circular movement.

If the 4-way hydrosweep is not rotating, the most probably cause is the wash-arm support if this part has never been changed on this unit. and that part is no longer available, but a repair place may have some stockpiled (other members can direct you with that).

HYDROSWEEP ROTATION

The best way to determine if the arm is turning properly is to run the machine with only one deep plastic picture in the lower rack you will be able to hear the water jets hitting it as the arm turns. If the arm doesn't seem to be turning check the following 1 make sure the filter is clean 2 make sure the machine is filling to the proper level , it should almost cover the filter, if not you probably need a new inlet valve. 3 check the wash arm and wash arm support for excessive wear or other problems. Trying to run the machine with the door open very far won't do much except get you and the kitchen very wet [ good if you need to wash the floor, walls and even the ceiling] but the water will escape so fast the arm won't really get going.

Just remember where is is when you start the machine

Then open the door after the cycle is going and see if it is in a different position
