Well, after talking with our resident expert in appliance service, John LeFever, I tackled the Kitchen Aid, On his advice, I replaced all the hoses as they were brittle, it is currently working without the overflow protection switch, and after adjusting the water flow so it wouldn't overflow it works great, I seem to have one problem, that I will see about next, the main wash dispenser cover will not latch in the closed position, so that is next on my list, I will install the new pressure switch as soon as it arrives.

about ready!

A little modification...I took the insulation off the Whirlpool, cut it to fit and glued it to the sides top and back of the KitchenAid!

Wow - well worth the $12 investment, I would say!!  Congratulations on a fine machine saved, Hans!   I am patiently waiting for one of these babies in turquoise to surface....

Hope it will serve you well for many years to come!

It did in my KDS-17A

Now I get to hear all the good sounds like the timer clicking and the water moving around and don't need to hear the motor too much.  I have a Kitchen/Great room and I was concerend the Dishwasher would be noisy but the insulation made a big difference.  We did the top, sides and the lower panel.

So glad you got the water switch temporarily resolved so the machine runs. It's a beauty that's for sure. I'll bet the insulation will help with keeping the water hotter too.

Very nice Hans!

Well...

I think Ive got everything going, the dispenser lid wouldnt lock into position, so last night I took off the door panel and fixed that, the solenoid was stuck, so after about thirty minutes of polishing and cleaning, it was working, I tightened up everything and put it all back together, and so far its doing great! thanks for all the advice and help, this site is wonderful!

enjoyed reading your thread

here! loved the pics! those old 15 model kitchenaids are great aren't they??!! they seem to have more power than the 16 and 17 models even though it's the same motor and pump basically. i did read here once that there was a small difference in the 15 pump that made it more powerful but it's been a couple years and i can't remember exactly what it was about. enjoy it!

More Powerful Pump in the KD 15s ?

We always felt that the addition of the Constant Rinse in the 16s and 17s caused just enough reduction in overall water pressure to reduce the noise and pressure at the bottom wash arm. The 15s were truly a hurricane in a box, they are noisy and keep the good light weight glasses out of the bottom rack.
