Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Lookin' good! I agree with Greg. Throw it in the kitchen for a few weeks/months and let it flex it's muscles for you. You'll be impressed.

BTW - that wash arm center looks minty fresh. Is it new or was this a low use machine?

Congratulations!

In my opinion, this machine, coupled with the longer upper wash arm, but still with the constant rinse was the best 2 wash arm dishwasher Hobart made. It was the last of the pre-insanity models. After the 18, KA designs were all over the place trying to save energy and ingratiate themselves with the federal bean counters who know nothing about cleaning in dishwashers or washers and don't care that they don't know because knowledge might get in the way of the issuing of regulations. The KDS18 gave, in the Normal cycle, two short prerinses to heat up the machine and dishes, two washes and three rinses. I add some detergent to the door for the first fill so that grease does not float on top of the water and build up on the tank lip under the door. I will admit that it does have a less-than-adequate Rinse & Hold.

The Department of Energy was created in the Carter Administration to wean the US off foreign oil dependency, but they were like crabgrass in a Bermuda grass lawn and just spread out all over the place, assuming mandates that they did not have. It would be interesting to see how washers and dishwashers and their detergents would have evolved were it not for the DOE and EPA.

Upper wash arm

Was a rebuild off of a couple donor machines I think the rack came out of a 19 and the was arm came out of a 23 .... Thank for all the kudos as well. Picked up a very rough kds17a and a 21 this weekend and will start on those next..... I know that the dispensers are leaking on both so going to have to find blue one to replace them..... White ones just seem so unnatural in there to me :-) I noticed on the 18 it will drip out the corner of the door seal a few drops of water so need to figure our what's causing that now.....
