Saw an news item tonight that stated with all the tornadoes and very active hurricane season to come now is the time to think about all your irreplaceable documents and photos.
They recommend that you scan all of these into your computer and place them on CD's or DVD's and store in a safety deposit box. In case any of the originals get destroyed you can reprint replacements. As far as documents go from a legal standpoint all you have to do is have a copy of the original, not the original itself.
This way you won't have to rummage through a damaged property to find you important documents. Of course you could always just store the documents themselves in the safety deposit box, but this seems like a good idea for photos.
