I have never seen a Kenmore with a folding top lid. This to me is very unusual. This must have a double hinge in it.

I saw that - I'm betting someone made this to fit under the dryer that was mounted above. The WCI washer that matched the dryer in the ad was available with a folding lid, an aunt had one years ago. Kenmore used to offer a compact washer with a folding plastic lid as well, made by WP.

Wasn't there something about the plastic lids having to be discontinued because they would not stop a fire so they went with a metal lid and a hook under the dryer above it or on the stand for stackable sets, to hold the lid up so that there was washer access?
