kenmore 22352 clothes washer

HI,

I have decided that it is time for a new washer. I'm stuck on Kenmore top load and am looking at the model 222352.

Replacing a 30 year old Kenmore.

It does have an adjustable water level, well somewhat, (auto or full) and a second rinse choice.

I'm open to opinions.

Personally, I think you'll be very sorry. But then you can't really tell anything to anyone and have them believe you. Only top load machine that operates like a traditional machine is a speed queen. If you would consider a front load machine, there are many out there that would be excellent. It's actually kind of scary that top load machines are made today that try and wash clothes in a thimble full of water and rinse in even less. Just isn't possible in a top load machine.

For a Modern TL machine Id say SQ is the best out there.

What model Speed Queen would your guys suggest?

The Speedqueen

has 3 TL models. The AWNE432 is Mechanical, The AWNE82s and AWNE92s both have electronic keypads. I believe the AWNE82s has a countdown for the cycle time.
The AWNE432 would be the most like your Kenmore.

I know they're not considered a viable option, but just to say, Fisher & Paykel's current model WA3927G1 "WashSmart™" is a full-fill agitator toploader, rated at 22LB capacity, 1,100 RPM spin.  It does a shower rinse by default on Regular & Heavy cycles but the Softener option changes to an agitated deep rinse.  Delicate, Easy Iron (Perm Press), and Quick cycles always run an agitated deep rinse.  The Allergy cycle does a full-hot wash and two deep rinses.

Well here goes an update on the new Kenmore 22352. Been in service about a week now and it appears to work well. It does have a control that will cause the water to fill to the top. It also has a measured water fill that is somehow connected to the weight of the clothes in the tub.

Has a agitator the seems to do something. The rinse cycle uses cold water. The spin speed it rather high as the clothes are plastered to the sides of the basket.

So far I would give it a good rating.

Good to hear.

Glad it works well for you. Honestly I don't think that today's machines are as bad as people say they are. It all depends on how they are used. I'd be interested in seeing a video of how your machine washes to compare.

OK I'll see what I can do. However it may be a little difficult as the lid locks during some cycles.

Nice! I was just looking at this one. It's one of the newer updated models with the Deep Fill option....glad you are liking it so far. Really these are decent machines. Kenmore uses the spiral agitator too which is nice. Def post some videos if you can. You can always unscrew the lid lock and place it on the top of the tub where it connects. It's pretty easy.

Does the auger move independently from the base of the agi-pellar?
It appears to be one piece from the pictures.

They still call it the "Triple action agitator" but the whole piece moves as one...the basket rotates in the opposite direction, essentially making it like a dual action I guess. The other direction they consider water "jets" that shoot soapy water up through the bottom.

It seems like a waste for that "dual action" to not actually "dual" anything. Physically it would be counterproductive to rollover in either direction for a full load, the same way a true dual action in a WP DD, for example, impedes movement when the dogs are stuck. Why would they waste plastic just so that something will be cosmetically appealing to those who are used to seeing the spiral agitator?

It would make much more sense if the dual action rotated in reverse to what a conventional one does, with the spirals pushing upward rather than down. So far, from what I've seen on videos done of the new WP and Maytag washers with deep fill and the agipeller, the clothes still roll from the center out to the basket and down because the "vanes" of the wash plate still push them in that direction. An actual working DAA to help them bloom from the center would make them even more preferable machines for those who want a deep fill washer that can also perform well in low water situations.

Shrewd Marketing!

The DAA is an example of shrewd marketing to a customer whom possibly had a bad experience with a FL or an HE TL and comes into the store looking for a machine that was like the one they are sorry they let go.

True, it's all marketing! haha. I guess a savvy person could replace it with the older triple action agitator...the true dual one. It would fit fine since WP put the older one on the new model with the Deep Fill.

New Kenmore Elite

The new Elite model is out...based on the larger capacity WP design. Looks very sharp! Has the new impeller and Accela-Wash and Deep Fill options. And just for you Andrew, the dispensers on the cabinet! haha Pretty cool!

Wondering...

Are the Kenmore flavors any quieter than their Whirlpool brothers? And why are the lids so thick?

I'm curious how the Accela Wash works too....says increased wash action but I wonder if the recirculating spray runs longer too.
