24 inch full height compact Kenmore dryer

Hi Sean, those were pretty rare. I only saw a handful of those over the years. I happen to have a whirlpool version in electric, a lot more gas dryers were sold out west, so that’s not too surprising.

Looks like they both had a good bit of use, 1988 machines the dryer has the new epoxy finish inside which whirlpool started doing in late 85, they have the burner access panel upside down but that won’t hurt anything lol

This is the second one in gas I’ve seen pop up in the 6 years I’ve been on the forum, other one I saw was a Whirlpool version in gas. Hopefully someone on here is able to get them, definitely something you don’t see all that offer. Wonder what the btu rating is on the dryer, might be 18,000 btus but can’t confirm since I haven’t had one come through yet.

Thanks John, I always wondered what the BTU rating was on the Whirlpool compact dryers and in the Thin Twin units. Always thought they would have been 18,000 btus to provide for a quick drying temperature, would a 18,000 btu orifice work in these dryers or would it not work well? Just wondering.

BTUs on compact gas dryers

An 18,000 BTU orifice would fit, but remember this is a much smaller drum with a fan that’s about half the size I think WP probably knew what they were doing. You could probably go a little higher if you had a very good vent on it

On Maytag top load stacks Maytag reduced the BTUs to 16,000 even with the same size fan, however again they had a smaller drum and a smaller load of clothes to dry because it was a coupled with a small tub washer.

One of the AW members who lives in the Southern California area should consider adding these to their collection. Not trying to fixate or dwell on it, but only have seen 3 or so pop up in the (1 electric, 2 gas models) 6 1/2 years I’ve been on the forum. This is your opportunity to have something there’s only a hand full of out there in your collection.

I could, but don’t have anymore room out in the shed for anything else at the moment, already have my Maytag A810 set in the garage I am going to be cleaning up and sell since it’s basically a duplicate of the 806 set I have.

Maybe I’ll try to arrange something, but will have to see.

I think there was even a Kenmore 24” center dial washer that would have gone with the 24” 60 series belt drive washers. A 24” full height belt drive set would be rare as hen’s teeth, that’s for sure.
