The match to my childhood dryer, except for the controls. The one I had used the markings on the plastic disc around the timer rather than painted on the panel.
So those had a str8 vane. Interesting to say the least. I see 3 cyc's, 3 water levels and 5 temps. I would definitely keep the str8 vane but get a Roto Swirl and a WP Surgilator for some washing fun.

I just LOVE it when people don't clean the edges and corners of their machines.

The str8 vanes weren't all that bad. not as dramatic as the RotoSwirls but still could kick up some water and roll the clothes.
Jason, I've always wondered what the dryer looked like. That dryer aws cut from the same design cloth as the 800 washer. Paired together, they could "pass" as a matched set. Too bad ya can't go get this one!! It's a start in the right direction of your holy grail. Bob

Bob, that's the match (except for the control knobs) to my dryer. Here's the ONLY pic I have of it. I was focusing on the cat more than the control panel, but you can see the knobs with the plastic rings.

It wasn't running, silly. Kitt used to sleep in the dryer after it was run. Now Kitt (and the dryer) is sleeping permanently :-(

Yup, it's a 1991 model with the orbital trans. I don't know the model # but it has Cotton/Sturdy, Perm/Press/Knit, 3 water temps, and 2 water levels. Any guess at it would be good. classic regular tub and aqua agitator (like yours). The machine is still running (thanks to minor fixes from me) and I made a video of most of the cycle.

The 600 series had some nice features on them. More so than a 70 series, and lots more than a 60 series. Was the '00 series after the '0s? IE: 60, 70, 600, 700, 800, 900, Lady

Yes, the 00 models had more features than the Xo versions. The Xo versions were kinda like a "budget" version of the Xoo models.
IN the economic downturn of the 1970s when Sears was designing the new "center knob" washer models, I was disgusted they didn't have anything but Xo models and no more Xoo models. But in doing research for a marketing paper, I found that's how Sears reduced costs by reducing the number of models in each series. Yes, the "new" mddels did have little enhancements as you went up the price line. Like the lowest series 70 would have just 3 cycles. The next one would add a 4th water level and a pre0-wash and maybe a bleach dispenser. the tol 70 would have variable water level (or 5), a soak cycle added, as well as fabric softener dispenser.

It's like that today if you look at the Sears washers.
The 40, 50, 60 models have the straight vane and I think the really bottom ones have the small tub. The 60 and 70 have the DAA and the traditional 3 or 4 cycles, the 80 and 90 have the TAA (triple action) and the Ultra-Clean cycles with the speed selector. The 90 is the full featured analog dial models and the Elites are the full out TOL models.
I do like the 90 series TLs from Kenmore because of the features. I just don't like the TAA, it's too flimsy.

I have a 2003 90 series with the triple-action agitator and the base fins are thicker than the ones used in the TOL Elite machines.
I guess the Elite machines get more capacity by using more flexible bottom fins. Otherwise the baskets are the same size.
Seems like they basically want you to overload the washer.
