Not often I post in this forum, but I was helping a co-worker with a problem with a Kenmore 18-inch portable dishwasher that we scored at the local Sally Ann for a mere $30.
The machine works fine, but there is a leak and I can't for the life of me figure out where it's coming from. It looks like is coming from the pump mounting area at the bottom of the tub - the pump itself seemed dry when I checked. The only really wet areas seemed to be around the seal. I noticed that there is a kind of seal or gasket in the inside of the tub and this is sticky, so I wondered if this had deteriorated and was causing the leak... The fact that the machine doesn't leak with water standing in it confuses me and the leak is most apparent when the machine is recirculating water and not pumping it out. Any ideas??
The model number of the dishwasher is 970 784102, serial number is 44 383 531190, catalog number 78410, and the type is GC1.

Troublesome Leak

I am not sure if its the same with the smaller Kenmore dishwashers, but the full size would leak when the buildup of gunk under the door was the culprit. Clean the floor of the dishwasher as it disappears under the bottom lip of the door and then clean the underside of the door lip at the bottom. It worked for me with D&M style machines.

Now that you mention it...

There was a lot of stuff in the tub - a cleaning just might do the trick. Thanks for the advice!!
Did D&M make these compact machines also? I am guessing it's a late-80's model.
