Good day I am new to this forum and somewhat newly interested in older Washers and Dryers. My present situation is that yesterday our Kenmore Dryer of many years, a very simple Kenmore Heavy Duty model quit heating. I will assume (Dangerous Word) that either the thermostat of heating element needs replacement. My wife just went to Sears to purchase a New Kenmore to replace this one, however, I am interested in repairing the current one and possibly re spraying the top to remove the scratches that a sleeping car has put on over the years.
As I stated the machine is a very basic unit with (when looking to the left when facing the machine) a large timer button and a push-pull start button. Just below the control panel is a pull out screen filter. The Machine is white in color with a more ivory type plastic accents. I will state that the machine is electric with the three prong plug.
Any help in identification of the machine and the age will be appreciated as well as any thoughts if my diagnosis might be correct.
