Hello,

Does anyone know of a way to activate only a heated dry cycle on this machine? Everything seems tied to a complete wash cycle - either the normal or heavy option.

I apologize for not having any identifying numbers, but there are no plaques or labels present in plain sight. I anticipate that this machine is from the mid-80s.

There is no dial on the panel, just push buttons labelled: heavy wash, normal wash, light wash, and quick rinse.

There are two bush buttons for the options of High Temp and Heated Dry.

There are also 3 vertical green lights to indicate progress: washing, drying, and clean.

A delay feature is present for 2, 4, or 6 hours, and the start/stop button is in a green diamond that is rotated 90 degrees.

It seems to me that by the mid-'80s, if not a little sooner, most machines no longer offered just the Dry/Plate Warm cycle.

 

Could have something to do with tougher energy rules after the 1979 fiasco.

The Asko/ASEA/Cylinda dishwashers I had a curiosity in back in 2012 (that is, the DM1302/1402 and computerised 1502) were all products of the early 1990s. Interestingly enough, these all featured a plate-warming cycle.

The more BOL machines had the Drying Phase selectable on the timer, whereas the digital model had a selectable cycle. 

 

All machines were fitted with a 1200w heater element in the bottom of the tub for water heating and drying. There was no "forced air" drying. 

 

All these machines were of European descent, and even marketed here in Australia. In both instances, our energy costs are drastically larger than those in the US. 

 

I think US machines with a manual-timer could be run on "plate warmer," although you'd probably need an empty dishwasher, run through a rinse/hold phase first...
