Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Went over to the sale this morning to pick up this terrific dishwasher... MANY thanks to Barry for spotting and posting it... it could even look better in person than in the photos if that is possible! It certainly doesn't look like it has had heavy use, but then again, it was in the basement and there was a new dishwasher upstairs... And speaking of upstairs, the aqua GE kitchen metal cabinets and range, and even the Nutone Kitchen Center were still there... but apparently they wanted to keep the kitchen intact in order to rent the house... a shame, most renters won't appreciate the period features and would be just as happy -- or even happier --- with some newer builder-grade cabinets and stainless appliances. But the dishwasher has been rescued!

Saved it!

I was so glad to see Moparguy save this. He arrived just as I was helping two guys pull my 1957 GE Combination turquiose refrigerator out of the basement. I look forward to seeing both the dishwasher and fridge put back into service! I shot a couple pics of the kitchen but it is covered in junk. Will post those and the fridge in another thread.

Pics...

Got the beautiful Kenmore home... and took a few extra pics for those wanting to see more! First, the underside, really clean aside for some dust...

... and an interior shot with the full rack view... Will do some more cleaning, though it doesn't need much, and take a few more pics when I test it out later this week!

Can I say this? "DAAAAAAMMMMMMM!" (& not the H2O that flows down it), that is sooo amazing looking..didn't realise it was pink(need to sleep at night, Phil) I'd love one of these - does it have any brothers or sisters out there, wanting to be adopted? Can we get a 3D printer to fabricate a windowed top to view the interior action? just dreamin' , both ways. Good catch.

Shucks, she's blushing from all the complements, lol. Well let me get some better photos... and maybe test run it this weekend... Will keep you all posted!

I had never seen one of those

Great find, can't wait to see it operate. Congrats Jeff, it looks like new inside, can we also get a closer picture of the control panel?

Thanks!

What an awesome find! It is beautiful!
The motor is enormous! Does it have a HP rating?
Congratulations! You will have a blast with this one!

Big DW Motor

The motor is a fairly standard [ for the time period ] 1/3 HP, it does look big in the picture. Impeller DWs almost always had a 1/3 HP motor that ran at 1725 RPMs. Better DWs that had a pump usally used a 1/3 HP motor that ran at 3450 RPMs, I think that KA was probably the only company to use a motor rated at 1/2 HP, they used a 1/2 HP motor on the 15-22 series DWs.

Thanks for the information John.
That motor looks huge!
Looks like a very fun machine!

Motor shot

Note the insulation in between the double walls of the tub and cabinet. Unlike the single wall GE, the wash chamber is pale pink porcelain, not Plastisol. Next to the motor, note the rubber sump for the drain pump. That is one place where you can run into serious trouble if the rubber gets hard and cracks; not as much trouble as with using a rubber carried in a wallet for a couple of years that degrades before use, but none-the-less, a situation where liquids are not contained.
