Kenmore version of Frigidaire rear control front loader

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Tom, this looks like the non-stacking version of my sister's Frigidaire.  She's had it for almost 20 years.  I think these are relatively bullet-proof when it comes to front-loading machines.

That machine is basically what I have now for my daily driver. It is the "Frigidaire" version by Electrolux, with the upward angled control panel. It is my third iteration of the same machine.

I had two others (both WCI) one with front mounted controls (purchased new) and one with the top mounted controls with the panel much similar to the Kenmore above. I got it from Menard's, in Ohio, for $8.

If you are not familiar with Menard's it's similar to Home Depot/Lowe's, In their outdoor lumber yard they sell used appliances that people have them pick up when they purchase new ones.

In this case someone had purchased it from Menard's used section for (if I remember correctly) $60. It didn't work, so they took it back and Menard's marked it down to $8. I asked the lumberyard man about it and he said the people got it home and it was dead. So I purchased it, and all that was wrong was the door switch was bad. I replaced it and it ran wonderfully for several years until I gave it to the Oak Ridge Habitat for Humanity ReStore where I volunteered. Their washer they used to wash donated clothing had gone bad, so I told them they cold have mine.

All three have been exemplary performers, no repairs on any except the front control panel model needed a new door latch.

I like this design much better than the 2006 Speed Queen front loader I had that I was not very fond of, to say the least.[this post was last edited: 1/3/2022-13:25]
