Kenmore Washers/Dryers - CL finds

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Dryer in first post is a 1966 Model 70 in what looks to be mint condition. My neighbor across the street had that model. I used to go over and do the wash with her on occasion and remember the dial light illuminating when setting the timer. The other thing I remember was that the dryer sounded like a locomotive. God it was noisy...not your typical Kenmore sound.

Bob- I stand corrected on the Boulder set- Thanks!

I wasn't absolutely sure and thanks for the clarification on that machine. I am aware of certain machines changing speeds in the later part of the wash cycle to slower speed but wasn't aware this machine did that. I didn't see any mention of "speeds" anywhere on the console which lead me to the single speed theory.

Phil-
In another post you mentioned the machine I used to have. The one that I use to own is the model that's being sold in post #14. Thank the stars above it never looked like the disgusting inside of the one being sold. The machine is suppose to be white inside and out! That sure isn't. Hate to think what's been washed in that machine!

In post #11- "the portable set"- Just how can this dryer be a portable when its a gas dryer? (makes it not so portable) guess it's a generic reference to it's size.

and lastly post #20- the dryer is Kenmore but the washer is a Frigidaire model.

Thanks again Rick - thought it was a Kenmore. Post #14 - I was up late posting quickly and didn't stare at these photos or catch some of the details - indeeeeeeed, what a grimy haul.

57 kenmore washer

All I had to do that machine is replace the pump which was original, and the belt and off it went.I found that machine at my town dump(along with hundreds of others)I plan to give it a complete restoration when I get the time.

Re: Kenmore washer and dryer set - $80 (Tacoma)

Not quite BOL...more MOL. They look to be a 1979 model 500 set. The washer has 3 cycles, 3 levels, 3 temps and is standard capacity. Gordon (Kenmoreguy64) has the same model in his collection.
