I’m back to Als for the Bank Holiday weekend and while there are lots of the things going on I’ve been playing with the Kenwood dishwasher. This was a design award winner at the time and marketed as the best dishwasher as it was designed to fit all the housewife’s daily dishes. It could hang on the wall, be built in, sit in a cupboard, or stand on a bench. It has an impeller wash system which for 1967 was old technology. If loaded correctly it washes well and did come with options of different baskets to wash pans etc. The only challenge is modern crockery as so much larger that mugs glasses etc often won’t fit. And it’s design means things have allocate spaces that cannot be used for other things.
Here are some pictures of before and after. We were washing a very popular Meakin dish Poppy which fits like a charm. Al even had the matching coffee pot and toaster.
The cereal bowls weren’t “flat” enough and although they fitted in their slots not enough water could slide through so the two glasses about them didn’t fully clean.
I’m sure others will post more of the others things they’ve done !
Happy holiday !
