While this is a U.K. Daily Mail story, American models are affected, so here goes:
Keurig has issued a recall for around 7 million of its Mini Plus machines made between 2009 and 2014. Affected models were sold at Kohl's, Walmart, KMart and Target, among other retailers.
Units under recall can spew hot liquid over the user; around 200 reports of this occurrence have been received, with around 90 reports of burn injuries resulting.
Consumers whose units are affected can contact Keurig for a repair kit that the consumer can install. Until the kit is installed, Keurig advises that users remain an arm's length away from the appliance while it is in operation, and also advises that not more than two cups be made in quick sucession. Keurig says that installation of the repair kit will resolve the issue. There is no charge for the repair kit.
Affected models have the model number "K10" and an identification number beginning with "31" printed on the bottom of the machine. About 6.6 million of these machines were sold in the U.S., and over half a million in Canada.
