kirby Sentria

Hey Rex,

What are the Sentrias going for with the attachments?

The "basic" Kirby package is that -the Kirby machine and the attachments that come with it in the large box.The Shampooer,Bare floor kit,Handi Butler, turbo tool are the optional extras. The prices of each item are marked on the large kirby box. Many salesmen don't like to show the prospect the box-according to the Kirby salesmen books I have they are SUPPOSED to show you the prices on the box.If they sell the machine or its attachments for over those prices--the salesman can loose his Kirby franchise immidiately upon word to kirby. The price for the machine and its attachment kit should not be more than $1330.If he tries to sell it to you for more-turn him down and try for another offer.Stall the salesman and he often lowers the price and closes the sale to move on to another customer.DTD salesmen try to close as many sales as possible to get more commission pay and to win their "contests".Sometimes the salesman may even throw in the shampooer for the price of the machine.

Kirby Sentria

Wow, I've wondered what one of these looked like! Very cool machine; much more "rounded" design than its predecessors, IMHO. Although I agree that it is pretty much a rebadged G-series, with G-series attachments as well. It still would be nice to have, especially with the Handi-Butler!

Trade-ins and dirty tricks

How does a trade-in affect the price of a new Kirby? Is there a company policy on this, or is it up to the dealer? Do all dealers accept trade-ins?

I've also heard of deep price cuts offered to anyone who calls to cancel a sale (I think there's a three-day free return policy.) Since a return can only be sold as a refurbished unit, they'll loose money either way....

Trade ins

Hey Port,

Around here where I'm at I don't know why but both the Rainbow and kirby dealers don't like to take trade ins at all. I don't know if it is because they were losing money or what. now last Year or longer The Rainbow dealer business is right behind my back yard and Kayla and I became real goods friends and One Day she was down business was real slow so she needed some money, So I asked her what she had in Tradeins Well She had a nilfisk GS90 and I thermax and # exl tristars. I mention to her that she should put them on ebay and sell them but she said she couldn't do that because at that time she wasn't hook up to the internet so I offered to put them on Ebay which I did and believe it or not she made a nice profit on all of them. She used to gave 100.00 trade in on any vac no matter what it was but then she started losing out. So she stopped taking trade ins altogether unless it's a high end vac but she doesn't gave them anything on them. now She has them on display and sells them like that now and if they sell She gives the customer the whole amount for what it sold for.

Generally its is up to the dealer to wether they want trade in or not-nowadays dealers taking trade ins is becoming rare. you could ask if he wants your old vac-its doubtful he would be interested-I haven't seen a Kirby delaer take trade ins for awhile-another thing-do you have another Kirby in your household?if you do you may qualify fo the 50% discount.Something to discuss with the salesman if you have another Kirby. You may want to look for used one at a thrift store or Ebay.
