After a prolonged absence from local market shelves, Kirk's "Original Coco" Castile Soap has re-appeared. The packaging looked familiar, and the price was reasonable, so I bought some.
When I opened a package at home, I noticed the soap was quite soft - not hard like I remember - and the imprint on it was quite sloppy. I looked at the wrapper again, and noticed it said in the smallest print, "Made in Guatemala for Kirk's Natural LLC, etc..."
Not to worry, though, the soap lathers up great and appears to be gentle. Since the original version first appeared in 1839 (according to the label), I suppose the technology is not beyond the capability of Guatemala. And they have plenty of coconuts down there.
