Mine left yibbles and bits on everything. Sad part is, it was sticky/gunky. A simple rinse under that tap in the sink did NOT work.
UGH! Kicked mine to the curb and got a MOL GE a la plastique tub (a water-hog) and was THIRLLED at how much better it was!

From what I've seen that machine
was a disaster for KA. They had to shrink the pump for the tall tub. I got the Superba from the year before and I love that one. I'd like to get one of these and jack a new pump into it to see if it makes a difference.
I have never heard anyone saying it was a good machine.

One vote....
I'll chime in with one vote in favor of these machines. I got ours in Jan 2005 and it's been night-and-day better than the PoS GE Profile plastic tubber we had before. It gets virtually everything clean and shiny (the only exception being cooked-on scrambled eggs, and it managed to get 2/3 of that off!), and runs reasonably quite.
Now, that being said I am on pump #2 after the first one started making an unfortunate loud buzzing noise, so long term reliability could be an issue. Still I'm happy with the purchase.
Are the current KA machines any good, or in the future if I'm staring down a non-warranty repair that costs more than it is worth should I just get a Miele?

Not a bad machine
Hi -- I bought a Kitchen Aid Dishwasher last year, just like the one pictured here on the inside, and I have had no problems with it. My only complaint is due to the energy standards, it doesn't get super hot and any plastic stuff will not get dry. Of course I don't do "BobLoads" in it either or put plates with large amounts of food in it. I'm certainly not saying that you do by anymeans, just letting you know how I use my machine.

and I am used to a real KA KD21 I had for years. I like the loading capacity but the cycle times are so much longer & GPM is not there. This dishwasher was replaced once because I thought it was not working properly BUT Sears said that is how the new KA is now. A hugh disappointment Mike

I pretty much have absolutely no complaint about my Kenmore Elite version of this machine. I adjsuted to the longer cycle times. And if I have to do successive loads, I "sort" my dishware loads so that what can be done in the 30 minute cycle will get run through first and then unloaded and reloaded. I've even been amazed at what comes out on the china/gentle cycle. Pretty heavy soil and no-heat dry, load is finished in just over 60 minutes. Light soil on my GE potscrubber GSD1200 was 59 minutes. Normal was 66 minutes, so not much different.
i have one of those in my collection
only 4 years old and the pump seal went out and the motor bearing failed. paid 10 bucks for it! will gladly give it to anyone who wants it!
am throwing it out soon if no one is interested, i have no use for it, just bought it to see what junk whirlpool was peddling as kitchenaid these days!
and my kd-12 from hobart that was built in 1958 still has the origional pump seal and does not leak! enough said!
