Brand new, in the box, never used KitchenAid dishwasher. I purchased from a couple in Chicago who had bought it in the late seventies and never remodeled their kitchen and therefore never installed it. Best offer.[this post was last edited: 1/1/2021-13:46]

What model is this? I can see that its a Superba but I don't know enough about them to be able to pick up whether its a 17 or 18 etc. Thanks!

IIRC there were two or three panels of various colors in the kits.  For an 18 series, I would guess that white, gold, and avocado were included.  I can't recall if the panels were two-sided or not.  If so, then coppertone could have been in there as well.  Stainless would have required a separate purchase.

What I'm confused about is John's mention above that series 18 through 22 use the same flat panels.  I thought the flat panels didn't show up until the 20 series.  My statement about multiple panel options applies to the flat panel system, where they were stacked together and slid in from the side, allowing the owner to easily switch them out as kitchen decor and/or appliance color schemes changed.

Pictures I've pulled up show the 18 series with wrap-around panels (as shown here) and no stainless trim.  So which is it?

It seems to me that the 18 series wrap-around panels would have employ the same mounting system as the 20-22 series stainless sections that hold the flat panels in place, so the entire systems would be interchangeable but the actual color panels themselves would not.  Does that make sense?

Update

Sorry for delays in response - been swamped with work.

I opened the front panel cover box - it is white. This DW has had more interest than anything else - who knew?

I'll be moving toward a decision in the next few days. I'm not trying to profit, just recoup original investment and some transportation/acquisition expenses. Most importantly, I want it to go to someone who will truly appreciate it.

Offer Accepted

A fellow member, whom I will defer to them if they choose to identify themselves, has made an offer that has been accepted. If anything changes, I will post on this thread. Thanks to all for their interest and other members who have made offers as well.

I’d like to thank the academy...

Thanks John....I’ll step out of the shadows. Hello all-I’m a newbie to AW....been a lurker for quite some time. Love the conversations on here, and have learned a lot! I didn’t answer much on my profile-will complete that soon. This will be my 1st vintage appliance. Have a 2014 SQ washer AWN412 that I plan to keep until I leave this earth. I’d love to find a LK garage door set someday. Grew up with an avocado 1969 piano key LK. Folks replaced it with last belt drive LK local Sears still had in stock in 1986.

I’ve always liked the KDS18, and know they are awesome machines! Folks ordered one in 79 to replace a horrid Tappan Reversa Jet...but they ended up not getting the KA. (Story for another time) Was floored to see this posting for one still in the box...I took a shot!

Planning to make a move this summer/fall...so it will be in storage at least a few months. Will be sure to send pics when it’s installed.

Now I’ll ask my first question to the KA experts on here. Any thoughts if any hoses/seals could/should be replaced on a unused 40 yr old KA? (Hoses that may have dry rot?) Any other special instructions to prepare it for use? Know water heater will need set a little hotter & Cascade boil out will work best.

Thanks all and look forward to more chats on here.
Robert
