Kitchen aid Imperial air gap??

I am finally getting around to installing a new to me Kitchenaid Imperial 21! There is a valve about halfway up the side that a black hose is supposed to attach to (coming from the water inlet valve). The problem is, the valve is horse shoe shaped (so the black hose isn't going to make a good seal). My research shows that it's either called a water inlet, or an air gap (part# 4163273). Am I missing something? It seems to me that under pressure, this will leak all over the place?? I will attach some pictures of the piece I am talking about, and of my project! Thanks in advance!

KA built MILLIONS of these DWs and I never saw a problem with a leak at this connection, it you want use a really good marine sealant  on the fitting when you install the hose,

Topsy Turvy!

The air gap obviously has gotten turned from its vertical position with the inlet pointing to the 9 o'clock position instead of being at the 12 o'clock position. Turn it back to where the inlet is facing up towards the top of the machine and slide the hose over the inlet. Secure the hose with a small wire tie and not any kind of clamp as John had mentioned above Also, it looks like the gasket between the air gap and tank was leaking so you should get a new gasket after cleaning the tank surface.The Hobart number for the gasket is 00-293014 and costs 1.80. Available at any Hobart office or at the Hobart E-Store. Snug up the plastic nut inside the tank and you should be good to go for another 20 years!

Maybe it got pulled down when someone tried to replace the fill valve in the past or got caught on the cabinet when you pulled it out of the cabinet
