Any idea what model this is, I'm looking for a portable to replace my current machine

We keep water heater turned down for toddler, so a internal water heater would be a plus. Our 20 yr old plastic whirlpool is a base mechanical dial model, only 1 switch "air dry".

I like the dial, I can advance it to skip the prewash/rinse (ususally don't need it) and go straight to wash/rinse/rinse.

Anyhow I saw this Kitchen Aid on craigs list ann arbor and thought I'd ask the experts. Is this a hardworking model? Would I need a new pump seal, door seal and water valve to get it going dependably?

I was wanting a maytag belt drive machine, saw one years ago and was impressed with the extra room and quiet operation. Where does one find a portable maytag belt drive unit?

thanks

It is a 17-series Superba. Does not do assured water heating except on the Sani-Rinse option. Has a hidden rapid-advance timer, the only way to manipulate it (other than by removing the panel for physical access) is by button-pressing amongst the various cycles and using the Cancel button. An excellent machine, hampered only by the lack of an upper-rack spray arm ... which can be dealt with effectively by learning proper loading techniques.

Lwr only is ok, our current 20 yr old whirlpool is lwr arm only.

so the 17s are good models?

I've been reading and I guess the belt drive maytags are noisy, better to get a pre '75 back pump model for quiet?

thanks again.

WOW!!!

Jump on that unit, man. Looks like it just came out of the box! It will lst another 20 years at least and will wash the shine off the dishes. Just learn to load it correctly like we all did back in their heyday and you won't be sorry. You can even convert it to a built in when you want to. You cant get panels for it anymore but an auto body shop can paint them all for you!
If that was near me, I would grab it and use the electromechanicals on my newer style machines. Get even better washing results with the two arms but have the cycles of that series
