Hi,

I have a wonderful Patrician V Kitchen Aid Dishwasher but the switch is not working all of a sudden.

A couple years ago I posted the same prob on this site and got great advice from a Hobart engineer, I believe in Fla, who knew everything about this machine. He had me spray the contacts on the switch with the elect. spray cleaner and it fixed the prob immediately.

When it didn't turn on a couple nights ago I tried the same fix and it worked--for a couple days. Tonight it shut down again.

I spray lubed the switch and pushed and worked the buttons but it's doing some weird stuff, like it's shorting.

Spect the switch is done?

Please save me again!! If you have a switch to sell or other help I'll really appreciate it. I love this machine and can't stand the thought of getting a new Expensive Junk 2018 machine.

I may have the switch!

I will have to check the attic for you, which I will do for you tomorrow. And then I will let you know.
Have Faith, my friend!

No treasure in David Jones' locker!

Bruce, I checked the stash upstairs but alas, I did not find the right switch for you. It turns out I have the program switch and timer from a KDP-18 which will not work for you.
Keep trying.. maybe one of the other members on here will come through for you and may have a switch available.
Make sure that the white part that resets the switch fully engages the brown boards that slide through the switch. When you lift the handle, they realign all the contacts so that the switch can work when you close the door and press any of the buttons. If they don't reset into the right spots, then the contacts of the switch will not line up and can cause your symptoms. That white part can be adjusted to push the bars further into the switch.

Also, make sure the connectors on the timer are also fully seated and that the door switch is working properly.

Thank you Steve!

It's 4 a.m. and I can't check out the switch issue you so clearly explain without awakening the household. I see the switch with new eyes. You're a God who answers prayers. I've been hand washing the dishes. My wife uttered the dread word Bosch. "Menards has a Bosch washer for 800, etc etc. I said nothing in reply. Then I said "Don't you like the Kitchen Aid Hobart Patrician V?" She said "Yes I love it."

I'm wearing out all kinds of electrical things I know nothing about. The motor on my lathe got hot and I learned about capacitors last week.

Thanks for explaining clearly how that white switch engages the brown boards. I'll let you know what happens. Bruce
