We finally finished painting the kitchen, which means that the kitchen is now officially done (except for the residual Fabulous 400 issues, which are being worked on)

We ended up painting the kitchen a sort of mint green and the basement stairway turquoise. I love turquoise, but I was afraid it would make the kitchen too dark. Besides, it would show how all of my turquoise kitchen accessories don't really match ;-)

Beeeeeeautiful! Love the booth, great choice of colors----especially since my kitchen is also mint greeen and the front stairway leading to the lower level is a light blue. We're on the same color-scheme wavelength.

Your kitchen booth looks so comfortable. I can imagine reading the paper there with a cup of coffee, making toast in the Sunbeam toaster. I also love the Frigidaire Flair Range. Having a new Fridg makes sense with the energy savings of a modern refrigerator.

Tom, I think you are looking at my breadbox, not an aquarium. (that sounds dirty, doesn't it? ;-)

I did have an aquarium for many years, and enjoyed it very much. I wonder how Sputnik (my cat) would react to it.....

I would not have tried the mint, wouldn't have thought it would work. It does, and it looks great.

The mint is very relaxing yet upbeat--everything works and ties together nicely.

Believe it or not, a Westinghouse Roaster, countertop model, was in our garage in the old house when we moved in. I wasn't sure what kind of shape it was in, and it kind of creeped me out. Not knowing any better, I threw it out.

This was before EBAY and before alot of my collecting, although I did have my vintage toasters and some other small appliances. Something about it didn't sit well with me, like, it might have been a fire hazard...why did they leave it?

Now I would have at least put it on EBAY! I hear they are great. Damn, mistake.

But no Sunbeam Mixmaster model 12 to go with the toaster and can opener? I would learn how to cook to spend time in this kitchen! LOL! Or i can be the neighbor ( Ethel ) and come over to borrow some "Hoff and Hoff".

Kevin, you wouldn't have thought I had a good eye if you had observed all the drama and angst I went through while we were painting. I was certain it was going to be a disaster! (all of the paint was from the remainder bin - the $1.99 cans that were mistakes - so that didn't help my confidence any)

As far as used stuff - I'm probably not as careful as I should be. I've picked stuff up off the street and hauled it home, which used to drive my parents and sister absolutely nuts. When in doubt about electrical stuff, I just put it out on the driveway, and plug it in, figuring if it's gonna catch fire, it can do it there, I can cut the power and douse the thing. It's never happened so far though (knock on wood)

Marty, I have a turquoise Sunbeam, but it's in storage because I have a Nutone Food Center, which I both love and hate. (Love the Blender, Mostly love the mixer, except for the glitch that causes you to have to keep pressing down on the beater shaft to keep it engaged. I don't know if it's the beater shaft or what.)

What an amazing kitchen. I love the mid-century style there. It's a great place I'd certainly feel at home in. The floor sort of resembles what my grandmother had in her home! The appliances certainly top it off too! You were definitely lucky in finding that gas Tappan range!

What a great setup! I also love turquoise. The booth, toaster and in-wall clock are cool. Gee, is that an ARVIN radio??? I have the same roaster (and I'm NOT Lutheran). Got the top roaster part (gently used) at the Salvation Army. Got the stand at an estate sale. It also needed paint - however they come back looking just like new. Those things are forgotten gems.
