Bethann, we had those canisters in the sixties, Ours had the black lids not pink, There is a Breadbox that goes with them, as well. The door opens forward and down and has a nice little formica insert inside the door. Your nice things are way cool. alr2903.

Don, The book says its a tea pot
All the Flameware coffee pots had pumps, but that of course doesn't mean you can't use it for coffee. I have actually used mine for cool beverages as well. PAT C.

My first
The first thing I retrieved from my parents house was my moms Kenmore handmixer. I used it for awhile when I first bought my home. It was funny because I discovered there was an air vent for the motor on the bottom of it. I can close my eyes and hold that up to my noise running, and I am taken back to my moms kitchen under her feet watching her mix cake batter....waiting on the BIG YELLOW pyrex bowl to lick. I have it displayed in an antique china cabinet that called to me from the otherside of a room at a flea market.

My current mixers
While not nearly as impressive as Robert's, here's my collection of vintage mixers so far. The glass-bottom whippers are my favorites; I seem to have a soft spot for these.
Front: 1947 Hamilton Beach Model G, 1970's Avocodo GE hand mixers (basically the same other than styling).
Back: 1940's Chrom-Ever (THANKS KIM!!!), 1930's Dorby, 1950's Vidrio
Electromix.
All of them work GREAT, although I did have to replace the cord on the Dorby. The Vidrio had a new cord before I bought it, and the Chrom-Ever's original cord is still in good shape, surprisingly. It is probably the smoothest-running mixer out of the three; so quiet you can hardly hear it. The Vidrio & Dorby hum a little louder but are still whisper-quiet compared to the "geared" mixers. Like Dennis Thompson (collector of glass-bottom whippers; has an interesting website--http://my.core.com/~dthomp) said, "The best looking ones do not always run smoothly! And a powerful, smooth-running mixer with a well balanced blade has a very satisfying feel to it, apart from its appearance."
I also took a close-up of the Chrom-Ever's logo. From what I've seen on eBay, the Chrom-Ever seems to be much rarer than the common Chicago Electric or Vidrio models.

Hi Robert, I love your display of kitchen things!! Are the Jadite nested measuring cups on the fourth shelf orginal or reproductions? If they are orginal you have a real treasure there. I have bought some of the reproductions that have come out like, baking dishes, casseroles, and the measuring cups and love using them. Terry

Well, I don't have anything nearly as neat kitchen-wise as some of you folks, more electronics than anything, but I have to say, I'm very impressed!
I thought I'd attach a couple pics from tonight- The richness and turquoise disappears when my .picts goes to .jpgs but it's better than nothing. Here's my GE cooktop with brand new calrods and drip bowls. I've stripped clean the inside, touched up a couple interior spots and gave it all a good scrub down. Just wired these in half an hour ago. I think I might media blast the stainless surround to give it an even finish and polish out the scratches - Similar story with the Oven, lots of disassembly, scrubbing and soaking (now just hope the clock is functional!) Only thing left is the racks..

I didn't initially set out to collect dishes, but in the early 70's I bought a set of the Butterfly Gold pattern of the then-new Corning Corelle line. Over the years there came a time where there wasn't enough of a set to service everybody or fill the dishwasher. I found that though Corelle is still made, the "Butterfly Gold" pattern was discontinued. In my search on E-bay for additonal plates, I found that the pattern was used on a LOT of different things, and was even licensed to other manufacturers for things such as table place mats. Well needless to say, now I have salt and pepper shaker sets, placemats, sugar bowls, juice decanters, etc, etc.

Hi Terry, good catch about the green glass measuring cups, yes they are repo's along with the green bowl next to it, otherwise everything else is original. Normally I do not like reproductions of any sort, but I love glass everything and I had never seen glass measuring cups before so I had to have them.

The good looking man and woman in the pictures on the cabinet are my mom and dad, probably just in there late teens early twenties. They are both in their late 70's now. While dad is showing his age, my mom still looks like she is in her late 50's. I hope I have got some of that youthful gene from her.

WOW those turquoise appliances look so new I feel a swoon coming over me!!! Great job Cory!!Try metal polish on a buffing wheel for the stainless before blasting it. I restore all the stainless trim on my collector cars that way,and it works great. I love that color too.
And jimirawn, I thought the good looking folks displayed in the photos on the magnificent art deco china cabinet might be your parents. Such a nice way to honor mom and dad! Hope you ARE blessed with moms youthful genes.

The house my parents built in 1964 had a turquiose cooktop, wall oven, vent hood, and porcelain sink . . and orange Formica.
