So last week, the ceiling was replaced - we contracted this out to a local builder - he's going to finish that up this week.

Old cabinets are gone, too

The late 80's melamine and oak cabinets are out - I am hoping to salvage some of them for storage units in the garage and basement. There's going to be some plumbing and wiring work needed, but that will only happen after the floor is 'corrected' (it has a really bad dip) and replaced. Again, picture 8 1/2 feet of turquoise GE appliances here!

Insert GE wall-mount refrigerator here

This is where the 56 fridge will be mounted. There will be lots of counters underneath and we're installing a second sink in this area too.

The old island location

Here's where the old island was located. The Jenn-Air grill range is out and we'll have to remove the vent pipe.

Orphaned Kelvinator

We only got around to moving the refrigerator out after the cabinets had gone (the GE Washer-Dryer had to be moved to make room for it...) Geez how I am looking forward to setting up a better workshop in the garage!
The good news - the new cabinets were delivered last Friday. This was a good four weeks sooner than expected - they were ordered December 2 and left the factory in Ohio on December 23rd. It is scary to think that the cabinet company was that quiet!!
Stay tuned - this week, the floor removal (not doing that ourselves) should be getting underway.
