Included in my growing Dishwasher collection are two KitchenAid Briva In-Sink Dishwashers.
I have mentioned them in past discussion threads, but one in particular, I spoke about repairing the Lid Balance Links on the KIDS01EKSS0 (42 inch) model (link below). This machine was the first of the two that I purchased, in June 2009 on eBay. It was manufactured in December 2003. The second machine, KIDS36EPSS1 (36 inch) model, was purchased on eBay in June 2010. It was manufactured in January 2007. Both machines have been shuffled from one place to another since arrival: from solarium to basement; from floor to tabletop, and back again; then on top of a dryer. Finally, I have purchased a couple of used kitchen sink base cabinets to house each dishwasher, and have fitted them with Teflon sliders for easy repositioning around the basement. I have plumbed each Dishwasher/Sink with PVC drain pipe and a washing machine drain hose – that can be lowered to a floor drain when in operation. And both have water supply lines that can be attached to a fill hose from the laundry sink.
Naturally, I have been anxious to get a look at these dishwashers in action. So I bought a thin piece of Plexiglas from Hobby Lobby, cut it to fit the lid opening of the 42 inch model, and it worked as a suitable, temporary, viewing window. What follows is a video compilation that serves to describe both dishwashers, a look at the rack and drain system, and lastly, two See-it-Wash segments (first without, second with dishes). The video is not without fault, as the Plexiglas reflects my basement ceiling, causing some viewing difficulties. BUT, one does get an idea of the quality of wash action, or lack thereof. I have to say that I am disappointed overall with the sprayarm coverage, as you will see in the video. And for the exorbitant amount of money that these units sold for, I am thankful that I did not actually buy one and put in my modern kitchen when we renovated it in 2007.
I did a search for Briva in YouTube, but did not find any other videos of a KitchenAid Briva. So perhaps this is the first one, unless there have been other videos, but since removed.
