I'm finally installing my "new to me" dishwasher.  I replaced the inlet valve since it had a crack in it.  Now I'm checking for leaks and when I pour water in the sump it runs out the drain.  Where is the drain valve located and how do I tell if it is any good? Thanks!

Washer on Wash Arm Spindle

I was reading on another thread here that there is supposed to be a washer between the wash arm and the wash arm spindle.  The washer is missing in my machine, where can I get a new one, or what size and what is it made out of?

drain issues and missing part

Your machine does not have a drain valve per se. It has a reversing motor that allows the water to drain out of the machine. It also has a white 4 inch backflow check valve screwed into the bottom of the pump housing under the machine that will allow water to drain out of it when the machine is idle and you don't have a drain hose on it.

The check valve has to have a drain hose attached to it that loops up to at least the height of the top of the machine to keep the water from draining out. If you attach a hose to it and loop it over the top of the machine while you are testing it for leaks, it should hold any water in the tank that you have poured in. If you go to the Kitchenaid website, you can get the installation instructions and parts and operating manual for your machine by searching under "Support." Peaase refer to item 15 in the attached picture. That is the check valve.

As far as the washer is concerned, the original Hobart part number was 00-241783 which changed to WP'S number 4162892 which of course, is NLA from Whirlpool. Hobart's list price for that washer is incredibly over 30 bucks each. There appears to be one of the Hobart washers available on Ebay for 10.99 OBO plus shipping. None of the WP numbers there. Maybe someone like John L can give you a newer cross reference for the WP number.

Hope this helps.
