We have an old (probably 1960s or 1970s) KDI-17 and we love it - it came with the house. There was a timer problem a few years ago that we had repaired and the old KDI was working like new.

The machine threw its counter spring (with a very loud BANG!) a while ago and, although the door now weighs a ton, we can live with it.

The machine started making a loud banging noise and we noticed that the lower sprayer arm had come loose and pops out. I'm hoping to get some advice on reattaching it since we're now hand washing everything and using the KDI-17 as a drainer/dryer only :(.

As I said, we love the old KDI and would rather fix than replace it if possible.

Thanks for any advice.

Wash arm support??

Can you point me to a reference for exactly what that is?? The thing that's banging around is a sprayer with four arms and it's attached to a "stick". Is this a major repair or can I do something about it myself? I'm trying to attach a photo of the offending parts - is that stick thing the "wash arm support" or is the support somewhere down in the bowels of the KDI-17?

Yup...

There's the culprit.

You'll need a New Wash Arm Support. Some of the guys have had luck repairing these, but a New One would solve the problem.

You'll need to remove the 4 Phillips head screws and replace that unit as in the picture attached.

I'm suprised that stevet (the Dr. Bombay of the Intergalacticle Hobart Universe) has not replied on this yet.

Hello -
We have a KitchenAid by Hobart custom model in brown that is free to a good home. It works great and we are removing it for a remodel. We are just outside Portland, Oregon.

Any takers?
