Kitchenaid KD-10 Breakdown

Is there anyone out there who might have a breakdown of the pump and filtering system for the KD10-Dishwasher? I know that it came with the horizontal motor and the lift up drain plunger/overflow setup. If anyone has the breakdown, can you please post it here or email it to me? The part number pages would be of help as well.

wish i had a kd-10

almost bought one from a guy here in cinti but his business partner threw it out! got a couple 12's and a 14 but would love to see that original hobart with the horizontal motor. if someone posts the info i would love to see it for my own knowledge.

hopefully someone will help you out steve! you are always helping everyone else with their kitchenaids!

KD 10s

I have three KD 10s that I am making one out of, for some reason I have never really seen any printed parts or service information on this model. I too would love to see a service manual for this model, maybe someone has it and will post it. I will do a little more digging to see if I can come up with something. My aunt had this model when I was growing up and it was the first DW I ever used, I know the machine inside and out, a friend even has the owners manuel for it.

I am not the only one who could use the breakdown! Like I posted years ago.. I had all this stuff and tossed it all when I moved to Florida and my cousin trashed his still working perfectly KDS14. The tank was nearly devoid of porcelain but it worked beautifully regardless. Since he was the only one in the family who had a machine like that, I tossed the spare parts for it as well. Hey, Who knew?
I did keep a brand new motor assy which I got from Hobart many years before thru a contact at Kitchenaid. Was lucky enough to actually sell it to someone in the Middle east who needed one for a UM dishwasher. Hope to see those scans soon.

Ben, I really appreciate the drawings. Now that I look back, I realize that I was missing this one book. Never had the one that showed the pumped drain unit. Pretty ingenious to mount it where they did.
My Aunt actually had one of these as her first Kitchenaid and she bought it in 1966 or so from the Buy-Lines Express which was a classified paper in the NY metro area which was the Craigslist of its day. Then when she found a really early model KDS-15, my uncle took the 10 and converted it to a commercial unit with the 3 minute cycle and sold it.

NP Steve, anytime. I was lucky when I found the big red and blue books that the red book included both the pump and non-pump parts list for the 10.

I've also thought the pump units on the 10 and 11 (both almost identical when it comes to the motor and flange mount) was pretty cool as well. Nothing like having two functional motors in 1 dishwasher!

One more question!

Ben, do you have the KD11 book as well? Did it have the same drain set up or had they gone over to the vertical motor? I don't remember which one it had. I need to get that standpipe o-ring and the 23016 number is way too obsolete. I was wondering if the 11 would have been the same part number or a different one. Maybe a slightly newer number can still be sourced thru Hobart. Otherwise the guy I know who needs one will have to take the part down to them and fit one up on it.

Hey Steve,

The 11 went over to the vertical motor/pump assembly. I do have the books, but won't be able to scan them in until Monday.

Is there a chance that a standard, off-the-shelf o-ring might work as a sub?

I've got a KD-12, but it's really neat to see how the earlier model was done with that sideways motor and pump assembly.
